Sharma schoot zijn vrouw in 1995 dood en sneed haar daarna in stukjes. Hierna ging hij naar één van zijn restaurants en legde de met boter ingesmeerde lichaamsdelen in een traditionele Indiaase kleioven, waarin normaal het vlees boven houtskool gaar wordt.
