Not sure how I feel about it but just finished watching Shame.

Story of a bloke with a "sex addiction" who's sister moves in unexpectedly.

Got really good crits and is 7.8-ing on IMDB. Can't really see why.

Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with it. The story seems OK. The acting is fine. Looks good. Nice direction, etc.

Maybe it's 'cause I can't figure out why it's called "shame", rather than "mildly disfunctional"?

Anyone seen it?

Because of the shame he feels at the things his sexual addiction makes him do?

The thing for me is, so what? What he gets up to sexually is his own affair. Whether it's shagging whores or married women or getting bummed. It's part of his sexual makeup and he probably wouldn't feel shame if "society at large" weren't judgemental about that.

Dysfunction I understand. The central characters are from a bad place, but they're not bad people. (Almost a quote).

Edit: Not that I think it's OK to shag married women. TBH, the film should be called "cunt" if it was about that...

I'd be concerned if the missus felt "hot" after watching it...
