Shaman Spec

Have decided to make a char in middie again and have gone for a troll shaman. Have had a look through char builder and have decided on a lvl 50 template of:

32 Aug
15 Mend
39 Cave

and for BG at 24:

11 Aug
6 Mend
20 Cave

I have very little experience on Mid and don't know anything about this class. On paper it seems OK but is it really viable?

I did a similar spec with my Troll shaman, worked a charm in the BG.

I believe that it was something like this, pre-1.52:

12 Augmentation
11 Mending
17 Cave

The only thing I disliked about it was the fact that a lot of people continually treated me like a rez-slave. Watch out for that - too many people think that Shamans/Healers are built only to ressurect people on demand.

The character was really excellent fun to play. High cave at level 24 makes your DoTs hurt. maybe not as bad as a Cabalists, but still excellent. AE DoT at 17 Cave is excellent in defence, if Mid ever hold the central keep. It's still pretty good in general mass melee, too, just don't break mez with it

Thx, played up till lvl 6 today with my missus following a similar spec and we are both really enjoying them. They seem to make a good team but look like they can easily hold their own solo. Makes a nice change to get away from albion for a bit too :). I'm gonna stick with the spec in original post.

41 cave 32 aug 14 mend is a pretty decent template close to the one you listed. As you get the best blot and DD at cave 41 and the first version of _group_ endurence regeneration at aug 32, it's pretty ok.

Otherwise i'm starting to think that 32 aug, rest mending would be a good template (Xanatea said so once, and I start to think he is right) - not many midgard healers is mend specced and it is kind of frustrating to rely on baseline heals with 14 mend :)

EDIT: forgot to mention that if you keep cave maxxed upto 41, you are perfectly ok soloing if you prefer that instead of grouping, otherwise you should stay light on cave for higher value to groups.

Just realised that i had a few points left over from 32, 15, 39 which allows me to get mend up to 18. This gives me next major heal in the mend line and should be a bit more helpful to groups :). It looks to be the same as the friar lvl 18 heal spell and that is still plenty enough for my lvl 45.

If you don't get at least 25 mending, your baseline heals are your best choice, just FYI :>

I found with my friar that the baseline heals are very random as to the amount healed for whereas the specced heal is a constant amount and much better. I assumed this would be the same for a shaman.

Baseline heals are still dependent on your heal spec + bonuses.

To get fairly consistent heals you need roughly 33+ with all you bonuses.

I've changed my mind, gonna drop 4 levels in Cave. This means i go down a level on the 3 AE spells in cave cos they are mainly RVR based and won't be used very much and go for this spec:

32 Aug
25 Mend
35 Cave

I get a higher level friggs and major heal. It would be nice to get 26 in Mend for group regen health but im not prepared to go any lower in Cave or Aug.

my shammie will be in 1 level 37 aug all second best buffs and second best end regen, 29 cave for 3rd best aoe dot, and a few others and 26 mend for group frigs, kinda all round decent template.
