Best settlers game going and they've redone it Apparently its quite good. It's out on the net at the mo, anyone played it?

I don´t get it.
People are crying and whining about the "lack of innovation in the gaming industry" and "baaah.. give us something new" and "omg I´m not gonna pay for this, it´s just eyecandy with no content" all the time. Now some company makes a 1:1 conversion of an old game by just throwing it all into a new engine and tadaaa! Everybody is happy!?
I mean.. wtf? If this is even remotely successful, you can expect remakes of Warcraft 1 and 2 and Starcraft and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Myst and Age of Empires 2, merrily flooding the market... all in fancy 3D gfx.
In my opinion, this is the lamest attempt of milking the cow since EA NBA 200X (now with enhanced gui and new player database).

I suspect very few people will actually buy this. Hell I didn't pay for my amiga version. Whilst I won't link to where you can get it, its available and has been for four days. So any attempt at "Milking" the cow will fail miserably.

Settlers II was a classic in my opinion. If I was one for paying for games, I'd buy it I guess. Most Settlers fanatics that I know won't pay for this though.

Successful in terms of profit? Probably not much, successful in terms of making fans happy? yus.

Graphics aint everything.. but S2 with added multiplayer support is all.

I dont think they have the split-screen option in this one though.. now that was Fun

i know its not everything i really dont care about the grafik when i play but when was this game out? 1998?
