Mythic are opening it for the people who quit daoc to play WoW/EQ2 etc...
By the time they get bored of the new server, Darkness Rising will be released and keep them playing for a while longer...

ToA had a big impact on RvR. In January '04 - just before the release of ToA - There were loads of active RvR groups, at least 5 from Albion which was the most Alb had ever seen. Hib/Mid saw alot of activity too. Alb and Mid haven't recovered from ToA, even after a year, there aren't as many RvR groups anymore.

These servers will drastically reduce the PvE time needed to get your character into RvR, which is it's main attraction. And the buffbot restriction will add some interesting changes to group RvR.

No way this is going to ba a "casual" server, guys. The casual people still will get rolled by opted people, ToA or no ToA.

Ill reroll friar just for the pwn
Die BB's! Friar's your friend now :eek6:

But fair enough, why not simply add that BB rule on the current servers?
Mytic shouldnt loose too many BB subscribers. BB's could still easily be used for PvE. BB's kill rvr, if you take them from rvr I think a lot of ppl would return and friars would fotm :p

Audi A8 isn't safe car to drive, tank can smash it easily - of course those who are opted roll over those who are not (doesn't this rule work with pretty much anything?), the point with "casual" server is that it requires waaaaaayyyyyyyyy less time to play effectively than normal servers -> casual player friendly.

However, all the gank groups will move there too. Thus creating an 'elite' atmosphere in the servers RvR.

It will be more RvR-oriented (thats' why most people roll there - easier to get RvR-ready -> casual player friendlier) yes, but does it really matter where the gank groups steamroll casuals? The main difference for casual player is that now you can choose wether to spend ages in PvE to get spanked in RvR or getting faster ready for spanking  Besides, all the new tools in ToA+NF-RAs made gank groups way more lethal.

Eh? whats wrong with NF  compared to ToA i'd say ToA fucked the game up not NF, only thing about NF is the RA's but thats nothing really...ToA involves mls/arti's and thats in a nutshell because within those two subjects there are hundreds and hundreds of hours that make for boring gameplay :m00:

I don't consider the MLs boring gameplay, I always have fun chatting, etc.

I think NF is too big, although I migth change my mind after clustering.

I think Artifacts and ML abilitys are worth having, however I think it takes too long and is too boring. Its an extra grind after 50. And I've prefer to xp than do ml's.

I think they shoudl cut out ML's and leave only the .10's. Cut out scrolls and arti leveling. Then we are in business.

The thought of sidi again is dull too esp without fop.

Also Char copy should be an option on that server imo.

erm, hello? wake up from your "ToA ruined RvR" trip? RvR was pretty damn fine after all the good guild groups (PE, AoD, FL, etc etc) had their chars ToA'd, even _I_ started to like it :) then NF arrived and hey'presto, the guild's were GONE... NF was just too big for small Prydwen, as simple as that...

If you were paying attention, you'd know most of the problems come from ToA, not NF. Or maybe you can explain how NF was to blame for the guilds which quit RvR in Feb'04?

Thinking back over a year, I think there were active GGs from:

public enemies, angels of darkness, T30, kupo flux, outcast, stigmata, Oo imo oo, exilium logresae, seven, the rigante... ?forgotten legends, the last watch?...

+ other GGs which focused on seiges

The last patch before ToA saw alot more activity, than the last patch before NF. Go figure...

Such toa bitching.. I remember in most rpg's i played, you wanted to get the top gear to pwn all mobs/bosses in the game. The extra effort is worth a RPG imo. And I do enjoy most ML's, scroll farming a bit less.
