Hehe seriously though .. see about 'noise pollution'

haha! best idea yet! Join teh dole train!!!

or play opposite music to what they play, back to them as soon as you leave your house- get them up in the morning- they'll soon be feeling tired and fall asleep a bit earlier. But then youll soon be getting aggro from other neighbours

all the revenge thingies are funny and everything and im not saying they arnt good for comedy value but i just thought id mention that its not worth getting in to a vendetta with people like that because you get your car tyres slashed etc beaten up or stabbed in the eye or something horrible.

and the way the world is these days you put up with months of trouble from someone, finally snap (i.e tell them to shut up) they hit you, break a hand bone and you end up getting arrested.

why dont have an option 3) Coldsteel blade and Ninja Gaiden in 1 month, then a remake and manslaughtering ergo no more loud noises.

tho if you go optio 3 i dont think youll be calling the police in a while.

to be more serious. Go speak to them in the morning or during the day when their not partying. That may help.

she has a perfectly valid point,
who has more to lose out of the situation, it sure as hell isn't someone on the dole who gets "given" everything they need

As said before, try talk to them failing that record the incidences, community officer, enviro health etc etc

yeah but still, no-one here has any idea who these ppl are, maybe a chat telling them to keep it down will help, dont assume if you go over there they will be 15 massive heroin junkies sitting there and they will come rob your house.

How do you know they are even on the dole, your assuming that they play music late at night they are jobless, they may work in bars etc or late afternoon jobs

Depends if you want to be on good terms with them or not.

If you do, and its a one off, then close your windows, put the headphones on, have a whiskey, and try to nod off.

Try to put up with it and if it happens again, pop over with a bottle of wine and try to win their friendship.

It´s the 24th "one off" since I moved to that house last November. ;)

Hmmm...tricky situation. What are these people like ? Are they:

(1) Alpha Neighbours: Nice people, openly friendly, who are on the whole considerate and will politely and reasonably listen to your issues and discuss in a peaceful manner.

(2) Beta Neighbours: People who are not very predictable on how they'll react. Keep themselves to themselves.

(3) Delta Neighbours: Scumbags. While not out-and-out hooligans they won't hesitate to give you a volley of abuse and key your car if they don't like you.

(4) Gamma Neighbours: Yobbos. The type of people everyone wishes would move out. The chav daughter is the local bike. The son's got a criminal record longer than his spliff, and is a low-time street dealer of Class-A drugs. The drugs are ok. The husband and wife both have stubble and don't wash their hands after they crap.

It´s not easy to classify them, mostly because I don´t even know them, i.e I never meet them on the street and I only see them through their window. I can´t say anything about their criminal record, but they appear to be the typical unemployed young people, who´re on the dole train and happy about it. As I said, there are 24 flats in that house and it´s a house specifically for financially weak people. The people in this house either don´t care at all about their neighbours, or they´re trying to solve problems by shouting or beating the shit out of each other. At any rate, they´re not the kind of people I`d want to associate with.

oh.. and a correction: this was the 24th case since March 2006 (not November 2005)

Does closing your windows make any difference ?

yes... I`d die from the heat ;)

Seriously... no. They´re directly face-to-face with my bedroom window and even if the music is off, I can still hear them. It would be just ok, but atm, I need an open window.
I`m currently using earplugs.. which seems to work. Still not a perfect solution IMO.
