Yea, because having fun and blowing the crap out of everything, while enjoying superb graphics sure is boring.

I take it you haven't tried playing co-op. Its very fun.

Well...

Of course I'm going to get it. The first game was a blast and the demo was pretty much the same thing. All I can say to the naysayers is, sure the game may not be your style but as for editing tools the game has it where it counts. If anybody ever wanted to be a mapper then load up Serious Editor, it's a great app.

The first one was fun but very annoying.

Wont bother with number 2.

That's an interesting point. Sam 2 may be dull but it has a fantastic engine running it. I reckon we'll see some good games made out of it.

I prefer something that stretches my mind, even slightly.

With this, fromt he very instant you start it is nothing more than a mind numbing blast-fest.

I like blast-fests - but at least make the puzzles remotely challenging.

You're missing the whole point. Its a blast fest, that's the point. It doesn't have challenging puzzles for a reason.

I think he meant there should be more *variety* in the gameplay. Unless there's something else to do than plough your way through hundreds of enemies, it's gonna get dull pretty quickly.

We're going round in circles again. :/

Been looking around to see if there's any SS mods available. All in development and none of them look particularly exciting. Early days, I suppose.

Exactly. After a few minutes I was thinking "haven't I already killed you 324502397402347 times in the last 5 mins? try something new?"

repetition isn't bad. galaxians had the same enemies again and again. so did defender. so did robotron. all class games.

admittedly jeff minter did add a dunny and some logs to llamatron which was fun but erm... yes ss2 is good. i started it last night :)

the bouncy end of level room was great fun :D

Yes. Likewise the vertical floor thing in the the demo was great, but these 'speshul' things are few and far between and just make for interesting peaks in a vast wilderness of dull.

I order you to stop posting on this thread, let it die in a ball of Wij's used tissue. For the love of donkeys...

This is the first game i've disliked to this level of hatred. It's affecting my chemical balance.

Its nothing to do with speed. Speed in SS is very good. I like that, but it doesn't alter the fact that this is boring, repetative stuff with no goal.

SS engine is stonking, though. Love the way the textures appear to become more detailed when you get close, as opposed to turning into anti-aliased splodges.

One day there's going to be a great game released using the Serious engine.

One day...

I don't want to play an interactive movie or something. I want to play a game, to make things die, lots and lots ! :D

No. I enjoy fast paced games, Q3 I played for quite a while and I thoroughly enjoyed UT until the llama brigade turned up. I simply, very simply, hate this game. It's boring beyond comprehension, killing samey monstery things, with pretty scenery and nice'ish guns granted but, I just found no point to it.

No satisfaction for me, just walking around aimlessly shooting here and there in the vein hope it becomes interesting.

Any boring gameplay that comes with this game can probably easily be recovered by custom levels. If/when I get the full version of this game I'll be checking out the editor too; all that's really needed to make things more interesting (going by people's comments) is some kind of plot, clear goals, and various different types of gameplay senarios.

Unfortunately most people seem to overlook custom SinglePlayer maps; those who thought Quake/Q2 were dull never played the Zerstorer/Castles of Stroggos mods, for instance.

good thing about DOOM was that it was SCARY! SS and SS2 just arent scary. and truth be told. i love sniping. nothing like looking through a scope at an unwitting enemy...then blowing their head off. that was why i liked CS until it got ghey. heard UT has good sniping stuff. sheer gore fests dont do it for me

thats prob. games built orientated towards MP modes especially cable users and above leaving us 56k peeps behind *cough*tribes2*cough* and especially as my 56k acts like a 33k thanks to the only ISP in the frigging country QTEL!!!!!!! its furhter reduced to crap and as such quite a few of my games havent left their boxes for ages
