serious advice

hello guys, this is not me making a comeback but i have something i need to pass on to you.

this morning at about 1:30 i woke up to loads of shouting in my flat, i ran to the lounge and there was a guy trying to break in, infact he was half in the kitchen window and my bf was dissuading him for re entering the premisis by way of my samurai sword (which he HAD to use once to fend the guy off).

this was a serious attack and the guy broke in to our home when we were both in, the lights were on and he was extreamilly violent, he did not just run away once confronted infact this made him more determined to gain entry and i can only surmise that he wanted to get in so much because we'd both had a good look at him and could identify him, after failing to get in through the window he then went to look to try and get in through the bedroom window and the front door and it was only when i was screaming at him that id called 999 and the police were on route that he gave up to go.

i have this advise for you,

if ever your in this situation defend yourself with as much force as you can, if my bf hadnt grabbed my sword and held the guy off whilst i called the police then i dont doubt we'd have both been statistics on the local news show by now and nothing more.

call for help, yell scream, hit a fire alarm anything just make sure you make as much noise as possible.

we saw this guys face and even though we both were close to him things were so hectic neither of us can remember it so finally focus, just try and catch as much detail as you can, this is hard (much harder than you would have thought) but if you can then theres a good chance of the police id'ing him.

before this guy left he made sure to tell us he would get us, we saw what he looked like and he knows it, never ever assume all your intruder wants to do is take your telly and then toddle off like a good little robber.

im going now and i only came back to make sure i shared this xp and hopefully this will never happen to any of you but if it does i hope to god this helps, i wish it never happened.

finally a belated good bye to all those who i laughed with on this forum its been a good few years and i wish you all well.

Wow that sounds like a truly terrifying experience, I'm just glad you weren't alone in the house. We got burgled about 4 years ago now when we were out, and came back to find two windows smashed, and most of our stuff gone. For about two years after that, we slept with the heavy half of a snooker cue next to the bed, but it was a horrible experience, and that was without coming face to face with them.

I'm glad to hear you're OK - physically at least, there's no doubt that it will affect you psychologically for a time, but I hope you overcome this.

I'm sorry you feel you have to leave these forums too - you've been a breath of fresh air and someone genuinely side splittingly funny over the last few years - take care out there

I would suggest locking your windows or asking the police to have someone survey your house cause if he threatens to come back you dont know what to expect.

its scary that he was halfway through your window, is there any idea how he got in?

Hope he does not come back Ez, if i were you i would keep that sword near your bed cause if you need it then you want it close by.

Not according to the police who visited myself and my gf after someone had kicked the door in and tried to rob us. I scared him off with a Knife. However, when the police visited, I asked what had happened If I had stabbed and killed him? They said the likelyhood of a criminal prosecution against me would be very slim indeed. They said If I had stabbed him to protect my property and he fell to the floor offering no threat and I continued to stab him then yes, I would face criminal charges, as this goes beyond reasonable force. If I stabbed him once, he fell to floor and died, from the single stab wound, It would be highly unlikely I would be prosecuted as this was reasonable force to defend the property.

If he was half way through the window and you were at an advantage I would have knocked him out tied him up and then called the police. Though in an emergency situation like that I'm not sure what I would do.

I guess the mitigating factor was that the person he shot and killed was running away. I suppose thats where "reasonable force" ends. Although saying that, I do agree with what Tony Martin did and think given the circumstances (our police force being incompetent, and not putting a stop to the contsant harrassment Tony Martin was having, I have no respect for our police force what so ever), he should not of been prosecuted. But thats another discussion and not one we should derail this thread with

You forgot to add, with an illegally held gun which he says he "found" and he shot them both in the back when trying to flee, and he consistantly lied about hsi position and what happened to the courts. If it had been a legal weapon and they had not been fleeing he probably wouldn't have gone to jail.
That and he had a history of firearms offences which is why he had his licence revoked.

If the burglar would beat you up if you tried to defend yourself without a weapon, using a weapon is ok imo, as long as you keep controlled and only attack to immobilize or smt.

dont know which country your from.. but unless im mistaken in the uk now you can KILL somebody who enters your home and if the evidence proves killing was the only option then u are ok.

so basicaly if the bloke did get into your house and started attacking u.. and you killed him... you would be fine.

the law has only recently been enforced iirc(i think it came after a farmer was sent to prison for shooting a gypsy dead when he broke into his home.

Glad you got out of that situation alright, criminals really are the scum of the earth and don't deserve the air they breath. You should be free to use any and all force available to you to defend your property and be able to do so without fear of being prosecuted. It's the innocent who suffer in our society not the guilty and that freally needs to change.

Incidently if I find someone in my house after last time when I got burgled they are so gonna wish they weren't there.

Wow, that must have been terrifying. I agree with this advice, anyone who's broken into your home deserves no consideration whatsoever and you must make sure that you are kept safe.

Scary to some yes but it was silly for you to confront the criminal. Reasons are the following:


1. You dont know if he had any form of weapon on him atal.
2. You dont know what he was capeable of doing.
3. Never confront a criminal with weapons such as Guns, swords and knifes, they can sue you for attempted assult on 1st degree (possible death), even thoe he broke on you can still be prosecuted.

The best thing you can ever do is Call The Police First and then see the criminal if he was stuck? Did not read your post fully but scim reading seemed like he may of been stuck. If you know any basic take down moves to get the criminal on the floor then do so and wait for the police to arrive.

When confronting a criminal in a take down position, you make sure that you are safe from anything the criminal can pull off examples; weapons in his pockets. If their was two of you then keeping the criminal pinned should of not been much of a problem.
