Saw loads of movies well before their UK release date when I was in Oz. Spent a lot of evenings in the cinema because of your early release dates.

Just watched it. Awesome film, wasnt dissapointed at all. The ending was just fantastic, and I love those little elements of magic that just make it amazing. Especially his plan Brilliant. Go watch it, now!

Actually it's cos fox fucked up the episode order because they wanted to show actiony bits first. This of course fucked up the finely tuned Whedon story arc.

But you probably knew that already.

Wash died, not in any fetishist way , just that when that spike impailed him...he died fast, no matrix style 4 minute pep talk here, just bang dead done. Very brave to do that to major characters in such a jarring fashion, kudos.

It made me sad too

Just got back. Fan-fucking-tastic. A plot that actually works (take note Lucas), great dialogue,(take note Lucas), real pathos and characters that you care about (ahem). I do think the film has more resonance if you've watched Firefly though, which will probably do it box-office harm. Destined to be a genre classic though.

One thing though, Buffy, River and Whedon's doing Wonder Woman next; it might be time to lay off the kick-ass girlies after that.

Loved the series to bits, having watched it more times than I care to remember...

As a fan of the series, the film didn't feel quite as good to me.

Ok it was good, and I enjoyed 80% but there were some personality changes that seemed a bit wrong and I don't think they used any of the characters (other than Mal or River) enough

The much darker, brooding Mal and the new agressive streak found in Simon didn't really seem to fit with what went before.

Other than that it was pretty good, although...

The death of Wash was damn abrupt, I suppose I should have seen it comming though, everything was looking up and Wash seemed to be having a moment of perfect happiness... We all know what happens in the JW universe when one of his characters has one of those - them or someone they love tends to die. Strangely, I couldn't have cared less that Book died earlier...

I remember sitting there through the closing credits and really not knowing what to think, strong mixed emotions. The thing is, I'm glad I stayed, the last minute of the closing credits made me smile and reminded me about what was good about the series.

Anyway, I will see it again, despite the twists and turns I think I will probably learn to appreciate the film *almost* as much as I did the series

Would you say that its beneficial to watch the series before seeing the film or does it not matter so much? Seen the first few eps and loved it, but havent had that much time of late and been meaning to watch the rest for a while now! Really want to see the film in the cinema tho!

If you can, I really would watch the whole series first - you're probably going to watch them eventually and it'd not be as good watching them after you've seen the film.

As for the Joss and tough women thing - he was brought up by single mum (afair) so he has a respek for strong women.

oh and it really sucks that Joss killed off Walsh, but that's a testament to his ability to make his audience actually give a crap about his characters

ive just come back from my local pictures, just booked again on saturday to take a few friends its just that damn good.

I couldnt wait to watch this film, all day the anticipation was building up something cronic, i just knew it was going to be awesome, and in a nutshell it blood well is

It didnt stray, was well paced, never once though about how uncomfortable the seat might of been. I just loved every minute of the film .

I just hope we see more series though, ppl might take notice now how good it is, as series 1 is awesome to

I've been wanting to watch this film, so I torrented the original series as I hadn't seen it.

Fookin ell, its brilliant! Dead funny, I'm up to ep 9 and I loved the bit where they're trying to rob the hospital and the doctor stops Zoe and Mal. "Clear" I pissed my sides.

The series won't be back, Gina Torres is already a regular on another series, so unless that tanks all we may have is more movies (depending on box office performance).

Saw this the other night with Damini. I'd only watched a few episodes over Damini's shoulder as she recently bought the box-set so I was mostly up to speed with the characters.

I thought the film was fantastic. I was fully prepared to buy a ticket for the showing straight after. Really enjoyable sci-fi film.

I thought since fox won't let them take firefly to another network that they were now planning on releasing a trilogy of films and then returning to T.V once their contract with Fox has run expired.

Was a very brave move to kill off some characters. Stupid to kill Book though, his character obviously had some pretty suspicious history and I reckon more of this would have been explained had we seen a full series.

Did anyone else think when they were watching that the guy in the red suit in ep14 of the series would have made a much better assassin? Until I got home and watched it again, I thought perhaps it was the same character.

I got the feeling they killed the characters that had other commitments and didn't want to be cast for either more movies or another series.
