I say semi, because i know i'll smoke when i'm drunk. No question, no control at times over such menial things.

But, i was thinking about quitting smoking like "all the time". Just noticed that i'm smoking a bit too much.

Maybe a 5th element "4 ciggies a day" thing would work :D

I don't want to do it for health or other reasons, just think i do it too much.

Suggestions?

And no, "just quit" isn't a sggestion

I think around 15, depends on day though.

ok, could you list the rough times you have these? I know you cannot be exact, but I assume you have one in the morning around breakfast time, one after lunch, one around dinner time and one in the evening?

You should not give up totally otherwise you will fail after a week/month. you could go down the "nicotine patch" route, but they are expensive (from what i heard).

Try and allocate yourself smoking times.

Breakfast
Mid Morning
Lunch
Afternoon
Dinner
Evening

Sorry, this is sounding like a diabetes guide "eat at breakfast, mid morning, lunch" lol.

I think if you allocate yourself a cigarette at those times, it's one every few hours. If you could live with that, you could have 1 extra cigarette at any point in the day. 7 is just under half of 15 so that's a pretty good start. Also it wont be too painful to endure...i think

One other thing.

7 x 5 = 35 so that's 2 packs of 20. No idea how much that costs.

15 x 5 = 75 so that's 8 packs of 20. You'd be saving a nice amount of money for strippers and scotch haha

Heh yeah. Kinda have to think about it as a "medicinal diet" or some such, normal diabetic stuff :D

I don't smoke in the morning as i don't feel like it. Usually before i enter the office. Then during the day "whenever i feel like one/am bored".

I'm not a "addict" smoker, as in "need nicotine", but more of a habit/boredom/good feel smoker.

I guess that could work, just see some "really enjoy" times and leave out the unnecessary "break" smokes.

Morning, after lunch, get home, after din, before bed. Would cut it to five a day and not really change anything. Except, yes, the amount :D

5x30= 150 = 7.5 packs/month = 27e about.
15x30= 450 =22.5 packs/month = 79e about.

So saving 50e/month buys me a VERY fine bottle of scotch :D

I cut down to 4 or 5 a day and it doesn't work luvs.

The 4 or 5 you have are godlike, I mean they feel well worth the wait but they are never long enough, now if I was having 4 or 5 a day of 6ft long ciggies then that would be fine. As soon as you stub it out you are counting the hours until the next one.

If you weren't addicted you wouldn't need advice Toht you just wouldn't do it, after all if you only smoke when you are bored then do something else for the 4 or 5 minutes it takes to smoke one. Bite your nails, scratch your arse, see how long you can keep your thumb under your foreskin before it wrinkles, burn the hairs on your fingers, pick your nose etc.

Sounds good :) Just make sure you dont buy 5x 10e bottles of scotch or you'll be even worse off (health wise) hehe! Nah, you talk about drink so much with Olga I can't see you buying the crap stuff.

Good luck Tohtori

So lets get this straight, he's gotta bit his nails (will make they all sharp and serrated), the scratch his ass (will probably cut it with the serrated fingernails), then push it under his foreskin, then burn the hair......and then put it up his nose! Just think of the smell, it would kill him!

Right. That's just absolutely true. 'cause extra advice ain't ever helped anyone.

I said i'm not addcited to the stuff, i'm addicted to the habit.

Heh Toht, I've actually gone through this recently (Since I left my last education place, gone from near 20, to around 5 in around 2 weeks) - Cutting down isn't actually that hard, I mean, if you don't make yourself want a cigarette (My mate STOLE my last one, now I have none... I refuse to go to the shop now) it's okay, usually every 2-3 hours have one or so. Generally how I do it, but as said. Depends on location. I never try and have more than 6 on an unactive day.

Remember, if you're at a party/pub (where you can smoke) the "5" max, will turn into near 50 :p

Addicted to habbits are fun XD

Why do something with the intention of not following it through before you start?

First step to fixing is admiting you have a problem admit it your an adict!!!!

Most important thing is to keep busy when you want a fag have some gum or something to take your mind off it for abit. My mate used a babys dummy wanted a fag just chewed on that for a while he took the bit that stay out of your mouth off or he would have got some funny looks ;) Lollypops help too i have been told.

I said i'm not addcited to the stuff, i'm addicted to the habit.

Same thing aren't they?

The stuff causes the habit and the habit is the stuff.

I just don't see why you say you need advice to stop doing something that you are apparently not addicted to. Its like saying you need advice on tying your shoe laces a different way, just don't tie them that way would be the answer.

I have every intent of doing what i say, just that you thinking i'm quitting full stop isn't the case.

I said i'm addicted to it. Just not nicotine. So there's no shakes and withdrawals. That's why i ask if people have done similar things when lowering the smokecount. And it's actually "the stuff is the habit".

And it's not the same as shoelaces. Now if i didn't know how to tie my shoelaces the other way, i'd ask like i ask here.

replace it with something else, e.g cofee/tea/water/fruit juice or maybe a snack,
if you feel yourself having to go back to ciggies then i am afraid you are indeed addicted tbh

ngh...noones denying addiction here.

Addicted to nicotine? No.
Addicted to ciggies? Most likely.
Addicted to smoking? Yes.

I don't want to stop because i like smoking, was just asking for some opinions on cutting down.

And by the way, i drink all the time, so that won't help and if i changed the smoking to something else, that would help sh*t all. Then i'd just do something esel too much :D

I really don't get what you are aiming to achieve
You don't want to replace ciggies with something else (which is the easiest way seeing as it is according to yourself, a habit not an addiction), for x times. I just used drinking as a example of a time to differentiate

You dont think you can just stop as it is a habbit

Either you are being purposfully dense, or you really dont want to change anything...

Urgh, people don't seem to understand basic English: Translation.

Toht doesn't want to STOP smoking, he just wants to stop smoking 20 a day and drop to around (or below) half of that.

Methods:

- One every 2-3 hours
- One after every snack/thing you eat (not tic-tacs)
- Two at lucnh, 2 at dinner, 2 before sleep.

etc
etc
etc

Not:

- Quit, stop smoking
- Just stop smoking.
- Replace smoking with drinking

*Bad fucking mood today*

See Chron, if you said that first it woud of been easier. It came across as "Either do this or this, can't do both" - Now it makes sense
