Except that you'd be charging them for this "gift" :p

Perhaps you could give away all your belongings etc in the game then, before you wave adios ?

while we're at it, how about those 3rd party pieces of software which we are told are illegal, when is someone gonna do something about all that?

Is Goa not willing to lose 90% of it's player base, or is it untrue that goa can detect this software?

I hope they wipe them all out and I dont even care if 40% dissapear from the game. it pisses me off and gives exploiters a huge advantage using them, so off they go!

lol message to daoc

i dont pay for my account a friend of mine dose because i dont have visa to be honest i havent even payed him the money what you gonna do stop my account ?

rofl if some one wants to sell there account whats it really got to do with you guys after all is there any harm in it, we pay you for this game for fun and its our money not yours we do what we please and are not here to go by your rules because if so why the hell is it a roll playing game - you play to be some one your not am i right,

i dident sell my account because i did not want people to have my name ect (lol im not sure if any one would want mckfly the level 50 bad ass)

so i deleted it (it was my choice)

if gen wants to sell his account where and what are the legal rights you have against him

the way i see things is - we are the boss of your company we fund you like a stock market - if you want us out we get payed off (and we can sell our shares) if you can see the lines im getting at. gramer is not my best

kemor - gamemaster its your job - so we ask you this. state why its such a crime to sell your account even i could think of answers for that (ok) so what if he was to give it away is that also wrong to if so explain?

Costmer care (the costmer is always right) (IM SEXY)

im guessing the way they would trace a sold account, was if the VISA subscriber suddenly changed, and changed to someone who is not the original owner of the account.

makes sence, at least :)

If we banned people who lack cards of their own, we might just get rid of the more immature lot, cough :p

Me neither. I found myself to be an incredibly witty person. Then again, I'm slightly biased :p

Just a point - my (decidely amateur) reading of Mythic's (and by extension GOA's) legal position on selling characters and their in-game gear is this:

You do NOT own your character.

Your account is a subscription that allows you to use an entertainment service for a specified period of time (the subscription period). Think of it as being like renting a video - you get to enjoy the film for the rental period, but you don't own any rights to the film, nor is the video cassette itself yours to do with as you please.

The virtual world that is DAoC remains the property of GOA. If they want to delete your character, or boost him straight to level 50, or make him look like a giant cow... they can.

The EULA vis-a-vis selling characters and items has been tested in the US courts and upheld, I believe. That doesn't mean that it would definitely be upheld in European countries, but English courts (at least) tend to take US rulings as persuasive precedents - meaning that if you buy someone else's account you could very easily find you've wasted your money.

Oh, and Mckfly - the customer is NOT the boss of a company, nor is the customer always right. Customer care means treating a customer with decency and civility in the hope that he'll bring repeat business; a company can provide excellent customer care and and still decide that some customers are more trouble than their contribution to the bottom line is worth. If you want to be boss of GOA, I suggest you buy a majority stockholding in the company. Otherwise, their obligation to you ends at providing the service detailed... in the EULA.

.... and I have met a level 50 infil who didn't know where to buy poison in Camelot. That was about a month ago, and I am still 44.5, after about as many days played, and trying to get to 50.

In fairness to the guy, he didn't buy the account, it was gifted, and he has since learnt very fast :)

IMO i think they should stop any one person from logging on to the same server at the same time with different account. Its quite simple to do, just don't allow the same IP address to log onto that server.

And EULA or whatever its called. lol - you think anyone reads that? i bet 50% of people here have a copied version of windows and 30% copied version of DAoC. I even bet someone has gone into a store and ripped out the CD key from the book. MVC keep the books in the box on the shelves. easy ;)

That would be a very bad move, due to the fact that I play form an internet cafe with about 20 other people. We all sit in diff places depending who gets there and when. If you were to ban the IP address then alot of players would not be able to play :(

Jesus, what an absolutely daft idea. You obviously don't realise alot of people have identical IPs as far as the Net is concerned; I know that I (and every household subscribing where I live, around 500) have the same IP; I've been K-lined from IRC for cloning when I've simple been idling FGS :p
