Personally if I didn't have one already I would be dead keen on hunting one down bearing in mind the current price and quality of its back catalogue.

I rate it a classic console which just didn't get a fair deal cos Sega fucked up the marketing.

:(

nah .. I haven't played much of shenmue, but it tries to be a film as well as a game and ends up being neither. The acting is awful.. I like the freedom, and it's not overly difficult, unlike the stupid puzzles you have to solve in zelda once you get off lv1.

/looking forward to tennis 2

You seem to be forgetting the likes of Metropolis Street Racer, Phantasy Star Online, Jet Set Radio, Soul Calibur etc....

The DC was, and still is a classic machine. too bad the general public being sony fanboys they are ruined the DC. Rather than thinking for themselevs.

Dreamcast had the ideas, didnt pull off the end result, just like the saturn, mega CD, 32x, etc. Sega have always had the right theories, but they never came alive.

Yup. The DC has loads of great games and you can pick them up for a tenner each.

If you don't already have one, grab one quick. You won't regret it ppl ! :)

Of course it was a classical machine - look at the originality of games?

Crazy Taxi, JSR, Shenmue, MSR, PSO - these are ones i've literally thought of in seconds.

The DC was also the greatest host for my favourite genre; Fighters. Looking beyond the quite frankly disgraceful PAL market, the DC saw a massive amount of elite fighters such as Guilty Gear X, CVS 1 and 2, A3... The list goes on.

Indeed, not many people can put Sega at fault. Anyone play Seaman? I'm guessing not cos people were so into the warez scene they didn't bother investing into a game that was bundled with the Mic. Seaman is probably the best example of an A-Life sim once you get passed the problems with the accent recognition.

Even the Saturn had games that were vastly overlooked -> Radiant Silvergun anyone?

Sighs.

/me wishes the DC would have lived forever
/me powers up CVS2 to bust some combos out.

Visit www.cornertrap.com for news and events regarding popular arcade fighting games. Ja na. (and check out my CVS2 movie ;D )

MSR - average. Not really a patch on Gran Turismo.

Soul Calibur - Tekken with weapons. Great innovation there. Shame they ruined it.
PSO and JSR - Haven't played so can't comment.

I dunno if I'd accuse the general public of being Sony fanboys. I'd accuse them of buying the machine with the best games on it.

You claim not to be a fanboy then come out with some fanboy comment like that?

The differences between the 2 are staggering with regards to technique and advanced skills.

Single frame attacks in SC?

How about Just Frame attacks in TTT?

Air control in SC?

Parrying?

Wave dashes in Tag?

More Okizeme in SC?

How about move buffering Ivy's Soul Suffering which means to movement methods?

Play your games before you decide to compare them.

The fact they use the same Game Engine?

The fact that they share a character whose moves are identical in both games?

Grow a brain before you try looking intelligent.

And where did I claim not to be a Sony fanboy? I'll buy any console that has PlayStation on it, as I know great games will come out for it.

You make no comments regarding mine - are these terms beyond you? The fact that moves are similar or even the same doesn't suggest the games are the same - or "Tekken with weapons". That's like saying that Street Fighter Alpha 2 is the same of Alpha 3 - is it not?

It looks the same? Hey it uses the same CPS2 board? Shame they're totally different games.

Grow a brain? What kind of a retort is that? If you're trying to insult my intelligence you've failed quite horribly as i've got backgrounds in pretty much any of the mainstream fighter that's been on the market. I build combo movies for a UK based gaming site for christ sake :D

I spent the day playing VF4 - but there's no point - after all it's just like VF3 right? :D

The 32-X for one didn't have "the right theory" at all, its success was always going to be stunted by the fact that Sega just released it as stop gap until the Saturn came out.

Sega's ideas have often been very, very strange. The actual games they make were/are great, just a shame every other part of Sega was run by chimps.

And to the guy who says that Soul Calibur is just Tekken with weapons... the entire fucking world would disagree with that outlandish and ill-conceived statement.

Soul Calibur is so much better than Tekken it hurts. I suggest you actually play the game to an actual level of competence before talking about the game again, as at the moment you are simply making an ass out of yourself in front of a more informed majority.
