There's a few idols i have, people i look up to(no my "dad" ain't one of them, he's a brick and hope he dies while his dick gets stuck in a goat in guatemala) and this guy is one of them. So, what's the natural thing to do? Make a slightly homoerotic thread about the dude and who he is. Denis Leary.

Denis Leary, can't get around it. He's one straightforward, fast talking motherf*cker who sometimes can do sick things but all in all he's just the modern equivelant of the Fonz. Yes i said it, the Fonz. Even if the Fonz is a legend these ain't happy days and this guy has the leather coat :D

I just like the way he talks, doesn't really give a f*ck and generally...is an asshole. To say it blunt. Good guy all in all, honest atleast if nothing else. But enough bla bla...

So, bring forth the stuff.

Wikipedia entry if you don't know the dude.

I'm an a-hole video. Class.

Scene from the hit show Resque Me

Add your own if you want or leave the thread as it is. In the spirit of things, you can also tell it's crap :D

I've had that song for about 6-7 months now after I saw him on TV for an hour. Kick ass comic.

Never seen the video for 'Asshole' though

"Scene from the hit show Resque Me" - Funny as hell, and true.

Bill Hicks is a great comedian, no doubt about it, but what i like more about Leary's style is the rambling style. If you know what i mean :)

Fourthed!

Question: Why is Denis Leary a star while Bill Hicks is unknown?
Answer: Because there's no cure for cancer.

Rescue Me is a brilliant show and Denis Leary is brilliant in it. I have just finished watching the new series and it was as good as ever :)

Dennis Leary's "Traditional Irish Folk Song" song is just superb.

Traditional Irish Folk Song

They come over here
And they take all our land
They chop off our heads
And they boil them in oil
Our children are leaving
And we have no heads
We drink and we sing
And we drink and we die

We have no heads
We have no heads

They come over here
And they chop off our legs
They cut off our hands
And put nails in our eyes
O'Grady is dead
And O'Hanrahan's gone
We drink and we die
And continue to drink

O'Hanrahan
No O'Hanrahan

They buried O'Neil
Down in country Shillhame
The poor children crying
And fe dee din de
Hin fle di dinfle
Di din fle de din de
In hey bibble bibble
Hey bibble bibble
Hey fle bibble de

O'Hanrahan
No O'Hanrahan

We drink and we sing
And we drink and we sing
Hey!

We drink and we drive
And we puke and we drink
Hey!

We drink and we fight
And we bleed and we cry
Hey!

We puke and we smoke
And we drink and we die
Hey!

Hicks comedy contained a message, which gave his comedy a certain resonance then and allowed it to remain relevant today like Lenny Bruce

Leary relied more on his personality, but I still like the guy I have to say.

Like i said, Bill Hicks is a great comedian but his style is way different then Leary's.

Leary has more of that "Irish What the f*ck is going on" attitude when Hicks was more of a "Here's my penis, now suck on it" kinda guy.

I'm not gonna argue with the fanbois sucking on Hicks's dead rotting cock, 'cause that would lead nowhere fast, it's a different comic, this thread ain't about him, do a salute of your own. with all due respect to you cocksuckers :D

Goat boy is hurt by your indifference!

Point taken about him being a different comic Tohtori. However, there are some serious similarities, especially with Leary's mid-90s material. Even down to the "Ok? Ok." <points finger at audience and carries on sketch>.

Hell, it's even documented in his wikipedia piece. Personally, I can't like a comedian who attempts to pass off other's material as his own - without even a nod or wink of credit.

I'd like to see any comedian who doesn't :D

All have influences, all have idols, all have some sort of baselines they base their material on. It's the "own twist" that makes good comedians into great ones. There are some similarities, true, but mostly it's their own bullsh*t that they spew.

About giving credit, well, i'd have to see all of Leary's work if he did or didn't give any.

no what makes a comedian great is him creating his own stuff not biting dead peoples stuff -.- a good comedian bites but hides it well instead.

I'd like to see some "proof" of this though.

I haven't heard any similar, well similar yes, but outright plagiarised stuff between the two.
