anyone here own, bought a second home.

Looking into it. Kinda a holiday retreat, somewhere to go when the Mrs isn't in school when I can work from home etc.

Looking south west wales, Devon, Somerset type area.

Donno about the financing yet. Probably extend my current mortgage and then buy cash. Any one done this sort of thing before and can offer advice / experiences etc. would be great.

I guess this is just a uk person thread unless @fettoken has a string of property over here too ;)

Would be expensive if you want a £40k upgrade on every kitchen though.

Stop laying into @fettoken, the rest of us can do it in a jokingly fashion, seems you fail to see that.

Must be an experience thing, after all, I'm 8 years old.

All i know from the U.K i learnt by playing an Alb on Prydwen. Cornwall and Stonehenge has some nice scenery. Maybe a house near Campacorentin Forest? Llyn Barfog seems nice in the summertime, but some real shady characters has been seen lurking around that place. Caer Sidi has some nice almost panoramic view of the sea.

I get the feeling you guys need to put this little mishap to rest and move on. I have. Shortly after she pulled my leg worth of 400 euro, we had a fight, met in a subway-station and agreed to never meet or speak again. And that was it. Think i bumped into her when i was around my new GF (Now ex) and she seemed nice, no hard feelings, though, after that she never looks at me, or my friends. One guy tried saying hello but she didn't bat an eye, just moved past in a blaze of epic ignore. That is that.

Now, what's going on your lives?

Yeah if you'd give the equivalent of Kronden (what i rented out) 10/10, go for it mate.

Awww @fettoken, you're just gonna have to accept that you're always gonna be ribbed for it - regardless of circumstance. But we love ya tho :)

Anyway - I can see why @Moriath is anti-tax and highly pro-capitalist whilst being down on the working-age poor - it's doing him 40k kitchens and a second UK home ;)

With two houses that'll be 40k then m8 ;)

W-N-W Wales in Snowdownia is nice - and you don't pay the premium (like double the price) you do for house prices in other national park areas.

Yeah just that its five hours away that's a bummer for there

Oh and the only reason I can afford it is because I bought my house in 1999 for 80k. Only have about 40k left on the mortgage now.

I live near reading. I can WFH some but the Mrs works in a school so would only be able to do that outside term times. Otherwise it will be weekends. So 2-3 hours max I guess that's like south west wales, Devon , Somerset, Dorset, South Wales don't want Birmingham area or anything East really.

I know you have other houses Scouse don't you?

When you first started did you get one mortgage or multiple?

Nah, I only own the one but I live at my girlfriends and rent mine out.

Was thinking of something in W-N-W Wales for myself. If I rag the arse off it from Nottingham I can do it in about 3-3.5 hours. But I'd never get a mortgage nowadays being self employed, even if I had 50k to spunk on a deposit.

Aye self employed sucks for that. :(

I did look up there and some nice places for not much money. Same in Pembrokeshire. Get a decent done up 2 bed for around 80k. As long as your not right by the sea.

Ah Pembrokshire..the problem with that area is it does get sunny about every twenty years...some local lad got caught out and his pipe nearly dried out...nasty business.

I have two homes in UK, one in Hampshire which is rented out and we just purchased another in Cornwall. We used some of the capital in the rented out house to pay 50% of the second. Rest we paid cash from offshore savings. There are specialist mortgage companies that do decent loans but don't expect to get the lowest rates. I would suggest you speak to a mortgage specialist and they will give you some options. In LA right now but have contact details at home for the guy we used in UK, can send that to you when I get back if you want.
