Scout: awesome range, awesome damage and slow archery speed, but handicapped in melee
Ranger: decent range, decent damage and decent archery speed, but awesome in melee
Hunter: short range, decent damage and fast archery speed, and decent melee

in short terms the archers, they are all nice depending on what their targets mainly are :)

Hunter short range? Should be, not as long range as Scouts :) 200 units shorter then scouts, one horse is 125 units long... no big deal tbh.
Archery speed is not a factor since all three realms have access to fast bows, and semi slow bows like 5.3 for mids while scouts can enjoy even slower bows. Not sure about rangers.

Base range on bows are 2000 units for all realms.
Rangers can use medium recurve bows with 2100 range (less then a horse length bonus), those bows however are afaik not so desirable since there are slower bows with more damage available but with 2000 range.

Scouts Can use and do use most of time Heavy Longbows that have a range of 2200 and are therefor best archers, have worst melee damage but have best defence of the archers with shield spec.

conclusion, Hunters and Rangers are pretty equal in bow range/damage, while Scouts are the pure archers.
Hunters have worst defence, cant even equip small shield but have very good frontload damage with the 2hand spear and the pet is useful to have aswell, rangers have very good melee with the dual wield, but is on the otherside tricky to spec good in both melee and bow.

Note, Bolts on runemaster, eld, wizard are 1875 and dd 1500.. so range is not short on hunters :p

Would advise ranger tbh on the basis that Hib seems to need as many people as it can get and there don't seem to be many rangers about these days (increasing numbers of scouts about in run up to NF) so you may find it easier to get decent kit at a reasonable price.

Its not just scouts... its happening in every realm you go to, rangers and hunters being made and Pl'd whatever.

More archers around the price of the archer items rise, sucks big time, but hib prob has the cheaper ecomony if thats the right spelling ;P

Ranger please because :

-Albion is overpopulated
-Everybody and his grandmother is rolling a scout
-Rangers are fun to play
-Rangers have best melee of all archers
-Rangers still do Ok with a bow

....and I need things to shoot with my scout ;-)

roll ranger and face the faboulous alb stealther community with mincer infil duo coming out the top of the food chain...
or roll a scout and enjoy the range/dmg in NF keeptakes.

personally i would roll a ranger for more targets and a bit harder time in stealth-wars.
