So here's a news article: Lol

Now then, I don't know a damn thing about Scientology and nor do I really want to. But I had a look anyway and on this site which I assume is the official UK site, under The Creed of Scientology you can read this:

That all men have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the opinions of others

Now what that says to me is that people are free to do all that, except when it might adversly effect the Church of Scientology. Rather amusing actually.

Its not a religion its a cult quite clearly and most governments consider it as such. Its terrible to think its got as many supporters as it has in western countries, I just don't understand how people can be pulled in like that.

...on a side note, does anyone know any jehovahs witnesses? When I was a kid there were loads of them, a lot of my school friends were JWs and they were a common part of every day life (every school assembly they'd troop out because they weren't allowed to stay because it included a CofE prayer). Now though I haven't seen one for years!

It was made up by a science fiction writer, that says it all really. Funnily enough when he was still just an author he spoke to numerous people about starting his own religion as a means to get rich quick.

It's basically an elaborate pyramid scheme masquerading as a religion for tax reasons.

Don't know any, but have seen them lots of times. They do the "stress test" things in shopping enters and busy London streets to try and recruit.

Doesn't matter what religion it is, what "cult", what following etc. The brand is meaningless when it's used for power, money or both.

Enough people + wrong direction/wrong leadership = trouble.

Religion has nothing to do with it, it's just a means to an end.

Parallel universe and vegans might be recruiting people that have high enough "green count"...hell...this universe in 10 years could have it.

So we shouldn't be against this organised thing or that organised thing, or people who do things by this way or that way...we should be against exploitation, bad leadership and people who force ANY opinion on others.

Someone wanting to live their life according to Hubbards thing, fine.

Someone exploiting people to get money out of it? Not fine.

And here's an added food for thought; The only thing causing problems between people are differences(in opinion or otherwise)and without differences we would all be same molded people, and who would want a world with everyone thinking, looking, acting and doing the same thing?

That's my take on it, scientology, no different from anything else people do en mass(e?).

They get away with it and make billions though. Read that article and you'll be amazed at some of the shit they do.

I've read plenty of what they do and i wasn't saying "let them keep on trucking", quite the opposite.

"we should be against exploitation, bad leadership and people who force ANY opinion on others"

This would solve a lot more problems then "Ban this and that religion/way of life".

But if someone wants to be a scientologist without the greed and such tied to it, it's fine.

The thing is though alot of people join them by being brainwashed in a way we all know its stupid but perfectly intelligent people join and then become knobs in a way.

EDIT: saw some interviews with people who left and they said it was the worst thing they ever did was join. And the whole tier system where people pay to find out the next part of the story keeps changing so people will never reach the top, thats what the who got out says

They get away with it because money rules the world. You have money and you get power.

Little correction to that;

Money doesn't give you as much power as people do. You can ofcourse use money TO get believers/followers, which in turn give you power, but being rich doesn't get you much mroe then sex on tap, get out of jail free and possibility to turn PR into followers/believers/power :p

or

"Im a scientologist, i take peoples money in the name of aliens"
