The White noise thread had me thinking anyone found a cool scary as fook place to visit at night?

We had one and we went there a lot, it was an old abandoned Nunnery/childrens home somewhere in Wales, it's by the road that goes to Betsy coed.
The true story is that most of the kids died in an infectious outbreak in the 60's or summit and the whole thing stands empty, but ..no shit ,the beds and quite a lot of medical equipment is still in the building.
It's like 5 storeys high and huge, just standing in front of it and shining your torch at the windows makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you keep waiting for a face to appear at one.
We got in and explored the pitch black corridors and endless rooms, we were freakin pooping ourselves, every noise had us shining torches in every direction, there are doors that open to reveal spiral staircases that dissapear into darkness, and others have ladders that descend into strange pits.
There is an attached Chapel and that was off the wall scary, you shine your torch in through a half broken door and religous statues stare back at you.
OK it gets worse, there is a Monastry nearby and you can hear the Monks chanting as you get near open or broken windows.

All a bit spoilt now cos they've built a huge road right past it and it's lost it's scary remoteness, still take a brave person to walk in there alone.

there was an old house outside the village i used to live in had stables and a huge barn that we used to explore. Not really scary anymore, they have turned it into posh flats.

to be honest I think you have more to be scared about from real people than dead ones.

Rapists, murderers, serial killers, paedophiles, terrorists, old men are all very real, whereas ghosts are very much all psychological.

Woods always seem spooky to me at night, theres an area near a river just outside where I live (a remote village in norfolk).

I went walking up that way in march/april time, it got dark while I was up there and walking through some of the wild forest area's where pretty spooky. I was alone, which didnt help :) was walking along a dirt path barely visible in the light, well, not visible at all, just a sort of lack of bushes that guided me, it wasnt pitch dark, but it wasnt far off. I wasnt really in any danger of getting lost, but the sound was disturbing - in books I supposed they'd describe it as a "loud silence", every sound was loud, every other step you'd find yourself turning round to see wtf was making that sound.

Its about that time that the horror fillms that you watch catch up to you, my imagination was going mad thinking up things like the predator, beasties from doom 3, aliens and whathave you, seems stupid saying it now but I was pretty spooked by it then.

I got about half way and I was pretty uneasy to say the least - as I walked past a large rotten tree, a load of pigeons or whatever just burst out and flew off, I almost crapped meself :D

Didnt help that I'd seen grass snakes moving around in a ditch near that spot a few weeks before that, I was convinced I'd turn round to find a bloody boa-constrictor coming after me.

the thing is, if you stop still and just listen, it isnt so scary, its only when you have to keep moving and cant hear as well that you get creeped out.

i love walking through woods and one of my fave places 2 visit is the cemetary up the road from me, ive always liked grave yards i find them restfull and the landscaping, wildlife and stone work are always lovely but walking through the grave yard the other day i was perfectly happy untill i saw a bunch on blokes up ahead THAT scared me.

aside from that as much as i love the woods, graveyards etc i cant say id like to go through em alone at night.

my x boss told me about when he was a student him and his mate went out on the moores at night and got terrorised.....

by sheep! he said they were really scarey cos they were following them and were dead silent hehehe real case of "beware the moonlight! stay on the path" i think

scary places.. hmm i always tryed to avoid entering our old coal barn 1-2 years ago @ night. for some reason.

but yeah i still dont enter forests etc at night. even tho nothing ever happens here. i still dont get a secure feeling in there, maybe its because of the Blair Witch Project which is 100% fake.. still it scared the crap out of me. since its made sooo realistic with those amateur camera point of views

if i ever visit Maryland (where it has been recorded) i will avoid that forest not matter what

i remember one time when my friends did a "bloody mary" session..

you know.. total darkness. watching into a mirror with 2 candles next to it. and saying "bloody mary" 13x

and i remember very well they ran out of our selfmade cottage in the woods crying etc which wasnt very pleasant.. and they had very bad dreams the following days i'll tell ya
because out of stories.. when you say bloody mary 13x when watching into a mirror. you will see "bloody mary" with a knife as a shade behind you trying to stab you in the back.

There is a road a hundred meters from my house that leads past a really old series of houses, that were built hundreds of years ago. One day when i were passing it with one of my friends at night, like 00.00.

The road (non car road) is ofc lighted. But when we passed one of the lights that stood exactly in front of a window on the oldest house on the attic suddenly passed out. We got like really really scared and ran like hell, thou it was a couple of years ago. Im telling you, that window still gives me the creeps, even at daytime.

now imagine all that, but instead of a live person, a dead person/zombie! so

zombie rapist, zombie murderer, zombie serial killer, zombie paedophiles etc
