blair witch was all hype in my opinion, everyone was like talking about it, the web site at the time which it first got released in america had more scarey and quirky stories than the actual film, id say its the website that made people watch film but there was nowt to it

Almost poo'd myself when I saw Alien in the cinema. Also thought The Ring (original Japanese version) was pretty spooky.

Other than those I can always get away with the "it's only a film and there's a big fat bald guy in a tropical shirt just off screen holding a big camera" technique :D

Event Horizon was scary in a weird way as well.

Event Horizon was one of those few american films which has actually scared me and made me feel slightly queasy. Fantastic film though, quite a good film as far as american horrors go.

The only film that ever had me shitting my pants was A nightmare on Elm street.

Event Horizon is the only film that's properly shat me up, for the first half anyway. Goes a bit poo after that.

Hellraiser did the same when I was 8, find it more enjoyable than scary now, all tho the second one Hellraiser:Hellbound still makes me feel a bit uneasy at times. The third one is just gash mind.

Not particularly scary, but tons of atmosphere: Prince of Darkness - http://imdb.com/title/tt0093777/

That's a classic movie! Don't be mislead by the 6.3/10 @ imdb.

Modern horror films are all about the jumpy/screechy sound effects and gore. I'd rather watch something with a decent plot, or old Hammer Horror movies!
