watched the exorcist when i was 10 or something.

scared the shit outta me. watched it countless times since but anything in a nightmare thats scary usually contains images from that film

also woke up with a form of sleep paralysis before which made all my muscles shake uncontrollable, thought i was possessed

I watched the original Nightmare on Elm Street when I was about 10, I literally had nightmares for 2-3 years after it. The Amityville horror was nasty as well, the bathroom scene with the flies and the blood coming out of the walls was horrific to watch at 10 years old. Probably tame these days, just shows you how much the world has changed.

if a film cant cause you some kind of life long damage, it obviously aint scary

and how about IT aswell.

cue another psycological trauma.

also dont watch hellraiser when your stoned unless you want some crazy head coming out of a wall.

seems kind of weird i would watch films that cause me some kind of damage, better than riding roller coasters imo

the grudge is pretty good, but only if you haven't seen it, 2nd time you watch it makes the film seem bit like the 6th sense does. Basically most Japanese horror/scare films r0x.

Too many "scary films" rely on special fx and shock "aghhhhhh" monster jumps out scenes.

A good scary film should leave you feeling unsettled after watching it, not just make you flinch during it.
