Im interested in buying a scanner for uni - think its gonna be usefull to scan text books etc. Im after something small which is able to plug into my laptop. I dont have a clue on the best scanners so i thought someone may know what Im after and hopefully they could help.

I heard of some handheld scanners which maybe useful? any ideas?

cheers

Honestly just think anyone would say go buy a normal scanner. But check for DPI ranges (Dots Per Inch, to do with the quality it scans in) and the price you can afford really

gotta aggree with over drive hand held scanners are pretty much useless for scaning any thing bigger than the width of the scanner (normally about 4 to 6 inch's) the scanner i have is a HP one, its less and a 1" think so it fits easily in my laptop bag when i need it, other option is a proper laptop scanner that you feed in the sheet (like a fax machine). but there are quite a bit more than a flat bed

most people at uni just have a printer/scanner combi in the room, and use library one when needed (its free to scan or 10p per sheet photocopied etc- or was at my uni)
