SB Shield Question

Does anyone know if having a shield affects how you fight? That is, do you evade more/less/same, does your damage you do go down etc etc?

Just wondering as I'm probably gonna ditch my 2h sword (too slow) and hopefully replace with this one: http://camelot.allakhazam.com/item.html?citem=6151

I'm critblade spec (50 cs 43 swd 35 sth 28env) so left axe isn't really an option for me...

You will block from time to time, but actualy 1h+Shield is bad, using the same styles as my 2h i do less damage and my end is wearing out much faster, only reason i use 1h (+Shield) is change poison.
