Sb live stuff...

Not sure if this would be better in the os forum.... but, here goes.

Gonna give XP another, final chance. Eheh.

Basically, I got shit static esque sound in some apps with my Sb live 5.1, most notably Zsnes, which despite some of you probably regarding as "some lame emulator", is one of my most used apps, and i'm going to smash things if I lose my current 2k install just to get shit sound again.

Although recently, i've been told it might be because of my mobo chipset? (some uber shit ECS K7S5A thing) Or is it due to drivers?

id say drivers ... just try there webby and see if there are any updates out for your card

You clearly need to replace your mobo. I'd recommend a sheet of tin foil for improved performance.

I said it somewhere else, and I'll say it here. Again. Do NOT (that's NOT) install the creative sb drivers in xp. Just settle for the generic ones it picks when it installs and it should all be peachy.

i installed the latest SBlive drivers in WinXP, just so i could get quads working properly.

generic drivers only seem to work 1/2 the time for quad speakers, except in WMP... which i hardly use

of course, moving from quad speakers to a full 5.1 digital surround kit is very nice indeed
