Was wondering if there is an easy way to save emails to a location on a server. I know that you can save an individual message, but I would like to know if there is a way of saving multiple messages or dragging and dropping a folder created in my inbox to a location on a server.

If anyone has any ideas or a straight answer I would appreciate it.

Presuming you use something like Outlook express/thunderbird, just make sure it isnt set to delete the messages once you've downloaded them.

That way they remain there to pick up if you ever format. The best way to do it is set it to either delete when you delete them from your inbox, or set them on say a 30 day age expiry, that way you always have the last months email there ready.

Most ISPs who offer mail will let you create folders on the server too where you can put mail.

Hi Calaen

Babs' advice is spot on and probably the easiest to implement. If your ISP/email host supports it, you may also want to consider using IMAP to get your messages. This is a mail protocol which allows your messages to stay on the server. When you check your mail a local copy is created on your machine. Any replies, deletions you make on your local copy are then applied to the server's copy, but otherwise all your messages remain saved remotely. You can also create new folders which can store messages permenantly. If your ISP/email host supports this then they should detail how to set it all up on their support pages (it's essentially just like creating a POP email account like you have now).

Kind Regards
