Apparently they intend to knock down this peice of London nightlife history and build a pile of shops ready for the olympic's (as if london was short on shops).

If you live in london no doupt you have probably like me, seen a few bands here. One of the few "safe" live music venues in London.

I live in finland and even -I- have heard of london astoria.

Weird enough...

I don't give a crap about live music, i don't usually like the atmosphere, but if one boozing hole gets knocked down, then it's gonna be two boozing holes next.

And that's a disgrace. Keep the holes!

My mate Nikki goes to Astoria every thurs for G.A.Y she loves it

These petitions never do any good, i work for one of the london bus companies and when the petitions went around about the ending of the routemasters the big wigs just laughed. No amount of people signing a form will change minds of ppl set to make money its a fact

Well what they do with the site depends on planning permission. I worked for engineering and architectual firms and if the council encharge get enough negitive feed back regarding the proposed development there is a strong chance they will refuse planning permission.

If the peice of land was worth zilch they may leave it in a demolished state for a few years, until people get fed up with the situation and with draw the protest. However a prime bit of real estate in London is very unlikely to be left like that
