Hi, Thinking of giving savage a try at some stage on my second account (no buff bot). I know youve probably seen this question before but im having dificulty on starting race and where to place 30 starting points. Id appreciate some up to date opinions rather than trawling through some old posts . Thanks for any advice

PS Going to start off 2h hammer/axe and respec later to H2H

well, i'm no expert. So i'm going by what people tell me.

Dex is needed for H2H i think, so kobbie makes nice savages

but, i guess the higher str of a troll makes it good as a 2 hand savage.

if i was you i'd put 10 points in str,dex and con. Just to make sure

According to the IGWHINE boards, norse and dwarves make the best h2h savages in the end game due to caps in dex. But kobolds make better savages early on. Trolls are good 2h savages though
High con is good, seeing as that's your powerpool, strength is also good, dex is your primary skill and will rise quickly but put points there anyways

Hi there,

For end game it's woth keeping in mind that HtH is based on str and dex divided equally, this pretty much means that no race will make a gimp savage So go with whatever you prefer would be the easy answer.

Personally, I am a little blue guy, and like it alot. I don't really get targetted too badly in RvR, size does help here against the majority of the ppl who just click what's easiest to target.

Compared to a dwarf who has the highest con of all races, I am around 200 hp behind (2150ish fully buffed vs. 2350ish), so kobolds are giving up a minor amount of hp compared to dwarf.

Raw data wise I would prolly place the dwarf as the best race by a minor, REALLY minor margin, norse come in second and kobolds/valkyn/trolls third.

Personally I allways wanted to try a troll savage as well, but they are so big, easy targets in RvR. Their defence will lack a little in the end compared to the other races but they would be superior when it comes to 2h damage.

So I say again, go with whatever race you like, regardless of which race you go, put at least 10 into con, for kobolds/valkyn put 10 in str as well and put the last 10 pts whereever you want (I put 5 more in str, looking back I would put them in con). As a troll put some in dex/quick, as a dwarf or a norse put some in dex/quick/str.

To me the key to a successfull HtH savage is lots of quickness, so never be afraid to spend starting points here, regardless of race. You will never do HUGE hits constantly, what you have to focus on is getting in as many hits and positional styles as possible.

PS: for our weapskill we do not "peak" it till we have a combined 600 in str and dex put together, so don't worrit about the "300 in attribute" cap. Besides this cap will be changed in 1.61, exactly hwo I still dunno but just focus on getting a combined 600 in the two stats when fully buffed (Like me, having 280 str and 327 dex atm).

Norse savage I did 10 con 10 dex 10 qui see sig for stats

Not going to be much diff at 50 but if your a kob/valk dont add anything into dex its quite pointless even with the new stat caps on US servers.

really just pick whatever race you want it wont make alot of difference. If some wizzy is intent on killing you, pray you have a good healer, not 10 more qwik. dex or con.
