I believe this to be a fake set of SATS questions - here's the clue: question 9.

Not only does the time they leave the lolly there for totally fooking irrelevant, but.....

They use the names Helen & Amy?! HELEN and AMY? Are you mad, we all know when using representative people in SATS and GCSE questions as they often do, the people are always called Malik & Padmajai.

English/white-based names. Not sickeningly PC enough. Must be fake!

How old are you actually when you are supposed to take the tests? because either I'm very intelligent according to the British standards or I'm just way to old for these tests :p

in general a lot of people wouldnt know the answers to them as you simply dont need to know that bollocks to live a day to day life.

Thats the thing, it makes us look like we are thick, but if it's not implimented it in your everyday life then you have no need to remember it.

Russell's training to be a teacher for 8-10yr old's and she is having to learn it all again, but in a way so she can teach it too, it would make my head explode

half of the stuff you do in school is just complete shit really.

why on earth do i need to know that leaves contain chlorophyll, which is responsible for photosynthesis, hence why leaves are important to plants?

all you need to know is if you want to grow a plant -

water it
give it sunlight
make sure there is 'food' in the soil.

basically how you live as a person.

when i planted my vegetable patch i didnt have photosynthesis as a priority for fuck sake. i just know that outside is sun and water and soil = vege.

personally i did sciences at GCSE level and then 3 years of sciences on my degree. while its all completley useless in application for day to day life, its interesting at least.

yes, if you want to grow basic - but you can see what a plant needs if you're good at it. there is alot more to it. Do you know which temperature is the optimal for growing this/that? optimal oxygen% in air, optimal CO2 etc. etc. etc.?
and its called general knowledge. if you just want to know what you need you would have a very limited knowledge and possibly fail at doing other stuff coz of lacking knowledge

(and helme, read the Original post :()

Yes a lot of the stuff you learn at school has no bearing in your everyday life. But its all knowledge.

If you have children do you want them to think mummy / daddy is as thick as pigshit because they don't know anything ?

My potatoes sprout while laying in the dark - they even get very small white leaves if i leave them long enough so GTFO!

You still fail because those are tubers and not the seed of the potato plant.
Guess what the major constituent of a tuber is by the way? :kissit:
