Nope its Body, as is the rubys ranged attack (yes i know its effect is fire but i tested it and its not heat dmg) also atm all sims use slash dmg for melee, but i think thats gettin changed to crush in 1.87

Well just as to say when i tested..
Used Ruby vs some trees in cornwall, trees which are extremely fire weak (as they would be and as i know frm fire wizzy) and let ruby nuke them, i got minuses to the dmg , same as i do from body lifetappin them. Whereas hitting animals like bears badgers etc (weak to body) ruby was getting the + .
Now this was a loong time ago but may have been changed, also test Saph vs undead, ull find his lifetap does - dmg to them , as its body dmg , same as a bonedancers insta lifetap..
As for the choosing dmg type , i dunno back when i played one it wasnt implimented
