They are slightly different. Photoshop gives square B a value of R=107, G=107, B=107 whereas square A is a flat 100 all round. Some optical illusions going on, but they are two similar to tell apart.

Yeah, it's deffo the letters. A is white giving you the impression it's darker than B, because B happens to be a dark letter, which would go with a lighter surface.

Or something like that.
