Salvage!

Basically a ship full of wood sank off of Portland (dorset) and its now washing ashore in sussex.

Leaving aside the big question of how a ship full of wood sinks (surely that all floats?) I'm surprised how badly the media and press are painting those who would go and salvage it?

I'm no expert but surely wood thats been in the sea for a day or two is probably written off by the insurers?

I mean the task of gathering, treating it for salt damage and drying it for months is probably a lot more expense than its worth?

So in my mind this is just a form of seashore pollution and people collecting it are doing everyone a favour reducing the taxpayers cost - if it was an oilslick these people would be heroes???

Send Damini to the beach - she lives out that way?

This happened a couple of years ago - apparently the insurers wrote the wood off - the real villains are the operators of these crappy foreign registered ships that keep sinking off our coast!
