Has anyone been able to salvage the diamond seal Breastplates before they decay or by using the pick-up/press escape/re-drop to have enough time to finish the salvage ?

been browsing the Crafting forum on VN a bit a while back, and I think I heard them talking about it there. I got the impression that it wasn't possible

In the current version (1.50) you can't salvage the BP because it decays before the salvage process finishes. I have read somewhere this is fixed in an upcoming patch either 1.51 or 1.52 can't remember which though.

BP's will indeed disappear when trying to salvage them. It will be fixed in one of the near patches (could be 1.52 but not sure).
Untill then, just go for the helmets .... will salvage into about 130 asterite bars which you can trinket into about 300 gold.

As of version 1.53, no item will decay (go 'poof' and vanish) on the ground while you are salvaging it, so you will be able to safely salvage the big hauberks and breastplates then.
