Feck all methinks.

Unfortunately i'm fairly ignorant to the situation (not afraid to say that either) and can't really debate well for it. But blimey, I knew they wanted to execute him sooner rather than later, just not this soon.

I think Life imprisonment would have been wiser since execution's produce martyr's but since they did execute him I think doing it quickly was probably a good idea as it stops people organising against it - he had finished his appeals.

I dont think you'll see peace in Iraq in our lifetimes frankly - far too many factors involved in de-stabilising it - US/UK withdrawal wont make much difference.

To be honest, considering all that is and has gone on, they probably should have offered him his job back.

I'm pretty sure they'll have a new Saddam or two lined up to take over after they pull-out, as the so-called government doesn't seem to be playing the American's game to the full. Some Iraq general will step in, and we're back to square one. We've already got the secret police, death squads and executions sorted..... now all they need is a ruthless dictator to quell the unrest.

I'm just thinking this could come back to haunt Bush and Blair in the future... Pinochet style. They could be tried for war crimes.

Don't agree with it, mainly because it just feels like it was a puppet trial, the Yanks are going to go on about how its Victory, but it just feels hollow and wrong. He should have been at the very least tried by a neutral court by the international community. But then we al know what Bush thinks about the rest of the world.

What good will this do? All I see is more innocents being killed as a result.

Apart from that... I can see it has given the fundementalists a martyr. In a few years someone is bound to make him a prophet to whom they will pray to and fight for, and so the cycle of hatred continues.

Also the significance of killing him at the start of the Eid felstival and the future effects of this has not really been considered. All I have read is that they wanted him to be executed on a special day.

I can't see him being hailed as an Islamic martyr. He only paid lip-service to religion and Iraq was a republic. He was a Sunni bit most of Iraq was Shia. Maybe an Arab hero but I refuse to believe that people are dumb enough to hail him an Islamic one.

Maybe in iraq, however Sunni is the largest islamic sect. My post was a little tongue in cheek as I still do not see the point in his execution except to give some the reason to revere him at some point in the future.

For some reason, I have a niggling doubt over his "death".

Whats to say reports are fake, the videos we do have dont go any further than getting the noose around his neck...

Besides which - why not hang him - whoevers hero or villain he is, he is part of a bigger problem - the middle east in general. Without sounding xenophobic, bigoted or egotistical, a small nuclear device in that general direction would solve a fair few issues and bugger up the one religion that directly or not is responsible for the world being a shit place as it stands now.

Martin Bashir goes off to Iraq to interview Saddam Hussain about his impending execution.

Arriving at the airport he asks the local police where he can find Saddam

The policeman replies, "Oh he's hanging about somewhere".

Lol, nice :D

It's just one of those doubts along the same line as where Mr Bin Laden is hiding.

Obviously we all know where Bin Laden is - he has been transmogrified into electronic form and haunts the Internet in various Flash interactive games.

My thoughts exactly. Let the evil bastard rot in the ground. I can't imagine many Iraqis actually liked him. I imagine most of them hated him.

I don't think the US will be moving out anytime soon. I think they're there for the long haul, and I actually don't think they mind.

Ok,

Just a little guidance. I am glad that Saddam is dead, I may not agree with the method, it makes us just as barbaric, I won't worry about links to other sites, but please, NO embedded pictures to anything related to Saddam during his execution.

I appreciate your understanding, so please don't.

I didn't 'need' to post it, but if you want to remove it for fear of upsetting people, please feel free, I completely understand.

I posted it because of the lack of footage broadcast around the event. Personally I wouldn't flinch at watching the evil sod turn red with a purple tongue as the trapdoor opened. I probably wouldn't post that though :)

No im not in the habbit of removing things as a mod because I personally dont like it. However, from a personal point of view I have massive issues with the whole iraq thing and the loss of innocent human life which has occured.. yes yes i know Saddam did worse in our eyes but really why was he there in the first place... all these things need to be considered before people start rubbing their hands in glee at his execution....

Maybe i think to much .. I don't know but really I just didnt think that needed to be posted :/

It's called 'too much analysis'.

The man is dead dead dead, what I can't wait for is George Galloway to appear out of nowhere craving some attention, only for him to cry on TV about the loss of "his majesty"... or was it "his excellency" ? What a drama queen.

Sorry to be such a crude asshole.... BUT,

The best choise around was hiding saddam in a secret place for three years, feeding him nothing but bread and water to keep him alive within a cage that he cudnt even stand in...(a very small cage) and video tape him month after month showing exactly how he has changed... mentaly and phsyicaly.. while making a complete mockery of him, and then after the three years, let him BEG for the bullet that will smash his head-case open and ALL OVER the back wall.....

the resserect the stupid basterd only to

DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN... the three years.. the videos... and ofc.. the begging for the bullet... oh and the bullet smashing his head-case open :D

and again and again and again and again and again.. AND AGAIN!!!

for every single person he has killed or done harm to, HE SHOULD SUFFER WORSE THEN WHAT HE GAVE IN PAIN (and thats not just for saddam... thats for everybody tbh)
and only after all that is done and dusted......

Please be sensible VegetaFH1, keep your extreme views of a country and its people to yourself. This post was reported so this post got edited. The above posts in a similar vein I will leave to others to decide if they need editing.
