Sad News

[Sparx]

Got a call last month that my Gran was taken into hospital with Cancer.

She had Liver, Lung, pancreiatic (sp) and Bone Marrow. So went up to see her last month.

Got a call late Sunday night that she passed away. The doctors said she had months to live but sadly it was more weeks

Trying to book last minute tickets to get up for the funeral, but its so expensive, and i fear i may not make it

8.40am arrives in glasgow at 9.50

Return that evening
either 18.05 arrive in london at 19.20 or

20.10 arrive at 21.20.

Not great i know but an option.

Well, atleast you had tie to say bye, that means more to her then attending her funeral(i'm betting), so don't worry. If you can't make it, saya hi and bye to her before bed, and anything else you want to say ofcourse.

She lived a long life, had a great family(guessing) and i doubt she regretted anything too much.

Better this way around eh?

When i saw her last month she was still the happy woman i grew up with, telling her stories. She was always a thin woman so didnt really notice too much of a difference with her. Glad i guess i still have good memories rather than seeing her really ill.

Got tickets to go up tomorrow £102 open return. And my mum, dad and lil sister are all over from Oz today so i get to see them too

Sorry to hear that mate. My nan died of cancer about 8 years ago. I can only say that in time the pain will lessen, but you dont ever forget them.

i always remember my grandma and think of her off somewhere polishing things and handing out sweeties, having tea parties out on the lawn with me and my various teddies and saying she needed to spend a penny when she went to the loo, for years i though there was some secret shop or something that only appeared in public loos when no kids were there, funny what you remember isn't it?

anyway the point of that is just to show you that when i grandma died it was horrible but now i just remember her had it makes me happy, when all this works its self through you'll be the same, have lots of lovely memories and stuff to make you smile

My sincerest condolences Sparx.

My Nan had cancer and passed away a month ago so these emotions are raw for me too. We went to see her the same day in hospital for her to meet her newest great-grandson. She died 6 hours later. It was exceedingly spooky because she said "It was lovely knowing you love" to my wife as we left.

And it is definitely best to remember all those who have passed as their vibrant self rather than the ill images. I think most if not all would want that.

Well thats me back in London. The Funeral was very moving, we were in a little back room then when the minister asked us to go in to the main room it was absolutely packed not an empty seat in the place.

It was very tough for me at the end we were singing the last song and they started wheeling her away i broke then just couldnt open my mouth, had to close my eyes. Then we went to the graveside and i got to be a cordsman which was an honour.

Its great standing at Grans grave you can see the farm which is a really nice touch

I hate that word closure, but can't think of another one that fits, but a funeral gives you that. Well done for going, many people think it's easier not to go, but that can lead to a lifetime of regrets and there's no way of going back to say goodbye.
