although I dislike most whining at GOA/mythic I gotta correct you somewhat on that statement. Mythic doesn't really give us anything for free, nor does GOA. We pay a monthly fee to play this game - we pay their wages, they work for us, they stop working for us, we stop paying them wages, they go bananas :)

But anyway, I'm sure that new engine and all code-hours spent on it must have cost quite alot. Only way for mythic to get payment for this is to sell it as somewhat 'standalone' (although you will need original to play it). So I agree with you that alot of people are ungrateful - kind of anyway (It's not like you pay alot for this, and yet people come here and cry/whine over bad service and/or late patches and so on).

Oh well, the notorious whiners would disagree with me of course :)

Well GF4 mx cards are shid..no they are worse than shid

GF4 MX are better then GF2 :) If Mythic claims it'll run on a GF4, I'll assume it can do so on a MX version as well, unless specified :)

Semi-Qualified guess with a splash of fact<---- this has to be one of the best quote i have seen in a long while

by the time november comes out GeForce 5 will be out (i think using quote from above :D )
so all the GF3 and 4's will be cheaper

well i hope so

Name one thing they've given me for free. Just one thing and I'll accept your argument is solid.

Remember, all you have to do is just name ONE thing Mythic have given me for free, even GOA for that matter! Go on, one little tiny thing they've given me for free.......

(btw/ Part of my subscription goes towards updates. This is a big update. It's still an update.

To be honest, I think it's disgusting that Mythic released a game that isn't complete, leaks memory and is unplayable during the parts what the game is meant for (Large scale RvR) and then charging money for an update to make it playable. We SHOULD get this for the money we pay every month.)

Can someone post a link to the pages with latest pricelists for GFX cards.... im definately sure i can enhance the performance with getting a GF4 ..... although i remember seeing the table with card performance comparison and me Kyro <64 meg> was closely behind GF3.....

So can someone please speculate on which card is better of these two... maybe give some other options to an office rat with a non IT <tech> related profession and eucation <although i know quite a few programming lingos and some stuff about PCs>.

PS: as usual im being a lazy git and hope you guys help me out.

Cheers

You're better off with a the cheapest non-MX version of GF3 then GF4-MX... MX is shite :/

You can get a g4 ti4400 from 180-250 its the best card imo for value, features and power the g4 ti4600 may be slightly better but its by a very very small amount it aint worth the extra cash.

I most certainly would not touch a single graphics card that has two letters: "MX". *shudder*
I just hope it comes to europe a bit after christmas so for christmas I get the best graphics card at that particular time.

Alot of people don't mind the crapness of MX cards; else they wouldn't bother selling them :p

£100 gets you a Ti4200, banging card, value for money and is very nippy, will o/c without extra cooling to Ti4400 speeds no problem. best deal imo.

i usually stay 6months behind the technology world when i upgrade, thus my new 2.2gig + assorted good crap cost me slightly under £1000, which im very happy with. staying at the forefront of technology gets you products which may go at the speed of light, but dont expect decent drivers etc.. right away (think radeon 8500)

Pff lag is caused by insufficent datafeed, not low FPS :p And great FPS, in DAoC? Hah! :p

We should be getting all this new stuff for free. Not in an expansion pack.

I would agree. But lets face it most MMORGPs nowadays follow the Verant line with Everquest.

Kunark, Scars of Velious, Shadows of Luclin and now Plains of Power are all (almost manditory) upgrades, that you have to buy seperately.

The arguement is, I guess, that this is new functionality, not an upgrade or bug fix, therefore is not part of the original product.

Financially, packaging the upgrades this way must allow them to recoup some of the development and marketing costs up front, which makes good sense as far as they are concerened. Lets face it, the game makers can't guarentee how long you are going to stay subscribed, this way they don't care if you leave after a week.

Oddly enough, no game makers that I know have gone the whole hog, and allow players to download the application for free and just pay for a subscription.

The closest I have seen to that model is Anarchy Online, where you can buy multiple licences directly off the web, without needing to buy the CD again. Althou since the game is £10, and the key costs $20 there really isnt much point there.
