Could be a prat at times but I remember when I wanted to respec from hammer to axe but didn't have any axes.

Saaug gave me a new 99% qual cleaver and never asked for anything in return.

There is good and bad in everyone.

True I was in UW and there were times he helped me out big time, taht was good Saaug. I'm not condoning bad Saaug's actions though. Maybe he was pld by 2 people or perhaps was just a very confused chap.

Reviewing these posts it is quite obvious that he made a big impression on people for a long time, though I fail to see why you talk of this time after time like a bunch of grumpy old men...

On a side note, how many posters think they will be remembered that long by a large part of the population? That guy managed to make an impression on a lot of people, something very few on the server can boast about. (Not that everyone wants to be but still...) My own recollection is limited to those arrogant guys that talked on the alliance chat last spring before Midgård fell apart.

I guess some peeps with good memories might be wondering if I'd post here and might have been waiting. I can think of two people who'll probably post after this appears ;)

Sidenote: Saaug wasn't the GM of UW when they joined the alliance, that was something that happened later. You'd have to ask their peeps what went on there.

Yep, I know lots of horror stories, some even came from peeps in Fedaykin and on the odd hunt I was going bananas trying restrain his enthusiasm.

I quite like Saaug. We've had some long chats. He is someone who sets goals and goes for them very singlemindedly and he openly admitted he was let down by his social skills. I don't believe he was using this as an excuse. He really knows his stuff when it comes to a char, but again, he admits he's not good in teams and a game like DAoC depends on this a lot.

But...

I found that Saaug was more likely to be 'one of the boys' if I had a chat with him before a hunt. This is what we're doing Sauug and this is what I need you to do matey. Job done. Believe it or not I knew I could rely on him completely for the rest of the hunt.
He's also a fast learner: he found out very quickly not to waste time trying to influence to get items ;)

Yep, he got Dark Roo'd a couple of times when needed and there were times I groaned when guildmates might have had incidents. I can't argue he was one of the players that you could regard as high maintainance, which is partly why I had to turn down an app for Fed. I'm a lazy git who likes an easy life.

This bit might get me flamed: I have always felt that many players upped the ante with Saaug through their own actions, by being off with him which contributed to many of the incidents that have happened. I'm not blind to his behaviour but I also know Mid/Pryd isn't populated by saints ;)

Some more history then I'll stop droning on:
Though I can't remember who, I remember someone complaining when UW got a WoW belt after one hunt and Saaug had been after it for almost a year. In the lotto after the hunt Fedaykin won first pick and as I often do when leading a hunt, I give that pick use to another guild that participated if I know they area really after something. I think it was down to a grudge against Saaug than a real belief things had been done unfairly that led to the griping.

Though I know the guy brings a lot of it on himself, I have never once heard him whining, complaining or badmouthing another person. Someone else may know different, but thats my experience.

He had 2 sides definatly. He'd be really nice sometimes, talking laughing and stuff, then he'd just kick you from Emain grp without a word and when you pm him he says "soz need spd" when grp wasnt even full yet.

Saaug being nice=you had something he wanted.

If he never comes back it will be too soon.
