Not really comparing like with like here.

I connect my DVD Player via RGB through a scart which beats SVideo via scart (just).

SVideo is fine though.

svideo is satan itself if only for the fact the connection is more homosexual than Wij on a camping holiday with Graham Norton in Brighton.

Component output > RGB SCART > S-Video > Normal SCART

Unless you're connecting over long distances, in which case S-Video every time.

[stupid]
So RGB SCART for connecting my DVD to my telly is the best then?

Play nicely gang :)

Basically.

Though make sure your TV supports RGB scart first, it may only be wired for composite video.

My HOS doesn't support it.

Actually they're two words for exactly the same thing - component RGB == composite RGB. component AV == composite AV ("the shitty one"). And no-one mentioned AV, given everyone knows that it's total shite. So I assumed you were actually responding to the post you quoted instead of going off on some retarded tangent - my bad.

Sorry to disappoint you summo/kippa.

Most normal people refer to them like this:

Component = separation of Chrominance and Luminance
RGB = separation of 3 primary colours
Composite = all of them combined in one signal

All have seperate audio channels.

SO I really don't see how you could have mistaken what mookie said stu

I have my GC connected to my 28" widescreen via Scart.

I can see the picture, so I'm happy.

Not overly fussed tbh, then again I've not seen it running on better kit, so am likely blissfully ignorant.

As per ;)

There's a very noticable diff between RGB Scart and standard shitty scart. It's like going from 640x480 to 1024x768. It's not actually doing that, but the effect is a much crisper image and much fuller colours.

Fun.

What RGB cable did you buy nath?

I'm assuming it was for a ps2.

Hmmm I always wandered why one of the Scart inputs on meh TV had RGB underneath it... will a normal Scart cable work if I go swap my Digibox to that port? wicked :)

If anyone is interested in getting into Home Cinema, you may want to check out the latest feature that Penny Arcade have to offer.

That requires too much reading!

Needs diagrams etc to explain Home Cinema crap to someone who is interested in getting into it.

WARNING: Stupid question ahead

What does an RGB Scart cable look like?

Or a Component Cable for that matter...

rgb scart looks the same. but they tend to be gold plated, but not sure if they are always.

Component is just three phono like leads.

RGB Scart cables look identical to normal Scart cables. Which figures considering they are......exactly the same. We are using a normal scart cable downstairs to send an RGB signal through to a 32" WEGA telly. Looks fucking fantastic, tbh.
