Rvr tips/guide?

The albs have one on their forum and it seems like a good idea to me - be useful for the newer players just joining the game etc, and some tips might be useful for some of the older players. I myself am trying to learn more all the time to be more effective so what do you all reckon? Maybe the top 5 for each class could spare a few moments of their time to give hints/tips to the rest of their class on how to be more effecient in rvr. Also maybe a something like the alb guide "know what your enemy looks like" is a sound idea too. This came to mind as in the last few days I've seen a tank or two ask what should they be targetting to which I always reply - "go for anything that wears a dress and moves their arms about = good, also non dress wearers moving arms about arent too bad either. People with weapons in their hand = can fight back = bad" ;)

Qote from Gray CF on Defensor Forum :D

nah u got it all wrong V

general rules

go afk when on stick

lose stick then moan oos where are ya etc etc

all healing classes respec to semi tank when entering emain zone - no heals allowed and generaly run head long into mid/alb zerg crying FFFFFFFffffffreeeeeeeeeDOOOOM etc etc

no body protect the casters - they are uber etc

use AEO to break mezz - this tactic rocks!

try to die in as hard a place to res as possible

in a keep defence all tanks/wardens/bards should hang around the battlements - they can deal a lot of damage from here

dont ever spin your camera around to check your six - its more fun to be zerged by surprise

If running more than 1 fg - always i repeat always spilt up and wait until the other grp/grps are ganked before returning

after winning a battle - its best if half the grp stick and go afk - while the other half generaly move around a bit while they wait to be ganked.

dont ever grp rangers in rvr - they sook

also remember when your grp dies in rvr - its only the fault of the incompetant idiot who was leading the grp - they must be whipped and punished for it.

and finaly - always ask your stealth classes to scout at the last minute - as we all know when stealthed people move at twice run speed

So here is my advice to you (bear in mind blue AF is useless on lev 50s in epic armour):

Bard: buff mages + bard with con + dex, other meleers with con + str (and dex if leftover)

Druid: buff highest yellow con buff to ALL group members first! v important. then int + yellow dex for mages. then yellow dex for bards. then finally haste and dex for meleers. if more than 1 druid, do cold and heat resist (matter resist and thornsprout are crap).

Warden: if not enough blues, fill in the gaps. then most importantly, buff RESISTS. give all group members body + spirit first. if any conc left, give out energy resist.

just thought i'd write this down in the hope it will make those long 'Buff Waits' at ligen smaller

Speaking as a NS I would prefer a dex buff to strength :) and all buff resists helps us run away and not die ;)

but then I'm a n00b wot do I know :)

Shield tanks - Guard + intercept + /stick on your casters, slam meleers that get too close. Your caster(s) are ALWAYS the first target. Give them a fighting chance and you'll keep half your attackers busy trying to kill one itty-bitt elph while you tear em to pieces.

Spanks + Icebreaker are daddies at this. I'd love to have Ice the slambot with me everytime i RvR.

RVR - get used to dying

dont waste time buffing etc..just all rush amg, a group at a time and then die.

oh wait , we are hibs :)

buff at dl (see novamirs little thing above but resists now dont use conc), race to crimm/bolg to meet another group, rebuff, whilst rebuffing get info on emain from random person in emain (ok not random, but someone reliable) then go find and kill.

then go find more and kill.

/wakes up.

/release

Yes, Novas buff-guide was written previous to the last patch, so basically you can now forget everything about it except the druid-buffing.
In a normal group with Bard+Warden you will have enough conc to fully buff the whole group, including a baseline str-buff for mages, just in case if they get str-debuffed.
As for resists: you can check the remaining time on them by doing a shift-I on them, so you can rebuff them before they run out.

One more thing about druid-buffs: Do not give your haste-buff to Wardens pretty pls, unless they ask for it. Warden has his own haste-buff, which is 1000x better, but strangely enough gets overwritten by the druid-one.

I guess it was too much to hope that our (in)famous RvR guild would share some of their vast pool of knowledge on matters relating to RvR.

Given the hostility shown towards them on these forums from members of their own realms I do not blame them for not wanting to post. However, any advice is appreicated no matter what guild etc you come from. Help the newer generation and old alike fight for our realm more effectively- share your knowledge people, please :).

Give more Shield Heros!!!

Can't guard everyone :D

But would be cool to have a hero fighting just with shields like a Blademaster :-D

Here are the most common phrases in rvr from each hib class:

Mentalist: STOP yelling MR PLZ and move where i can see you!
Eldritch: Nuked that alb for 600 damage - ZERKER INC - oh shit, dead.
Enchanter: My pets on him. LURIBOMB <boom> <dies>

Hero: OMG did u see me 2 shot that cleric
Champion: NOOOO the target has that effect!
Blademaster: Did you see me solo that zerker, shaman, and runie all at once? What do you mean you didnt?

Druid: Group Purge not ready! Instants Not ready!
Warden: PBT up, afk for a week or two guys.
Bard: Mezzing him, bah he purged - need res.

Nightshade: Another archer bites the dust - ah crap true sighted - need res!
Ranger: Bloody bladeturned again!

Drawn your own conclusions :)

Seriously - the most important rule of rvr is cowardice - kill and then run like hell to somewhere else before his mates find you :)

Hi folks,

Some small tips, this is all just advice that I would recommend people to listen to or comment on:

- If you break mez do so with a stun (caster stun or shield slam) that way the opponent doesn't damage you nor anyone else + they can't use IP etc.
Casters usually really appreciate this because when people are mezzed they usually line up the juiciest targets.

- Try to snare/slam/stun/mez people on your healers/nukers/tanks. Gives more time for healers to heal and nukers to pick targets. Never hurts to occupy your enemy.

- Next patch I believe you can prevent interruption a bit by guarding healers/mages, now you can block some of the hits but after patch they can heal you/nuke your target at the same time. Could be nice to explore that more (PS: not just to make ice feel less lonely)

- Realm abilities help a lot, you'll notice this later on as you get the more active RA's like GP, AM, the chanter one :), IP, TWF. Inform someone who might have experience in them what they're like and how they might benefit you or your group. (most are obvious but some are a bit dubious whether they are worth the points at earlier realm ranks)

- Be aware of what happens around you, sometimes a heal to someone in another group can save your life (amazing but true)

- If you're not sure what to target /assist a more experienced tank or caster, this will reduce chances of BT (for tanks) and will increase killspeed.

- Slam hamsters :)

- Pbaoe is the fastest way to kill enemy groups, just make sure you have either more than one pbaoers with moc available to make sure they can kill their targets rather than gloriously breaking mez and dieing :)

- Target the most threatening enemies and put them out of commission first:
+ Casters (hurt, therefore must be mezzed/occupied by tank)
+ Healers (can save groups if left unattended, same rule as before)
+ PBT casters (can give healers and nukers and enemy tanks the time they need to wipe out enemies, mezz will put them out of commission though or they need to be killed by a nuker asap, depends on group composition mostly, lots of tanks means lots of annoyance from pbt)
+ CC Classes (Can cause serious damage to a group who doesn't have the RR to all own purge and group purge and even then they can put your essential classes out of commission, usually need to be killed fast)
+ Tanks (Are the least of your worries if you have a decent group yourself, by now your healers and pbt should have kept your group alive and your tanks should have put the previous classes out of their misery)

- Know your enemy is also an important rule for this, you need to know runemasters and theurgists usually have pbt to target them. If you RvR a lot you will know some of the targets you need to take out quickly by name because of their actions in the field (healer mezzing your druid+bard for example and therefore managing to put your CC and healing power on hold)

- Run away as healers, with our advantage of end song (atm, not after patch) we can outrun any enemy (unless we get rooted/snared).. usually run a bit, throw heal, works miracles.

- Don't rest in popular spots like amg or mmg, enemies regularly visit you there and like people sitting down a bit not paying attention (albs and mids, keep doing this)

- Don't pbaoe NP ;)

- Most important rule of all is to have fun, usually playing tactically and trying to find out how well you can play your character is the most fun (for me at least)
Try and find your own tactics, enjoy your playstyle, don't let anyone tell you what to do but don't disregard friendly advice either, might help :)

Well that's it from me, hope some of this isn't blatantly obvious and can help someone out a bit.

don't piss of your bard by blaming everything that went wrong on him.

dont argue with the appointed group leader/driver, if he says stick, STICK, even if there is one more person to kill, you STICK, there and then..

example why:
i go to amg , find one fg, wipe them..
on /as: 6fg albs in emain, join the counter hib zerg at crim to get rid of them
me to group: STICK STICK
group: runs around a bit, climbing up wall, general cuntness
me: STICK NOW
albs: having obtained where their comrades died from, proceed to trample over us.
group: ffs shit cunt why didnt you move?

and people ask why i dont want to join non guild groups.

your bard wants to make rp.
he wants you to live.
you want a bard to win.
get off his back and give him a break.. im fine in my guild group, but i can only imagine what the other bards who dont join guild groups are going through.

Also don't think Druids have endless amounts of mana to heal in long or numerous battles..

Specially firby druids.. = 1st target for just about every type of CC the filthy invaders have.

Not unusual to be stunned/rooted/mezzed all 2gether or after 1 another.

Never rest in the place you survived (or got rezzed after) a battle. By this I mean don't even rest full end, just /stick and find a good place to have a good rest, rebuff and wait for sickness. Then move again to look for trouble.

Even if there are more hibs close by (read; amg camping), resting there may easily become a vicious circle, ie, after every new encounter the rezzing / resting will become slower. After some time you will all have to /release and have wasted lots of time.

If you ress someone with the ghetto-ress at least have the decency to throw a heal their way, so they can at least walk to safety, and not get killed and ghetto-ressed again ( no, it didn't happen to me, so stop staring  )

Rezzes will be patched to being 4 second casting time not depending on the level, this will result on everyone using the highest heal, me using the 100% rez :)

Also i think the Res sickness time reduces when ressed using the 100% hp res.

To half I think, but i'm not sure.

Pppl like the 100% hp res but for the Druids stood rubbing ut hands together for 12 secs a time isn't healthy :)

Learn the frontier and abreviated names for things - like
ATK(APK) = Alb tele-keep
AMG = Alb Mile Gate
MTK(MPK) = Mid tele-keep
MMG = Mid Mile Gate
cruach = Crauchon Merchant keep
Levi ridge(or just ridge) Ridge by leviathans (giant badgers)
Dhak's Tower = Tower close to Alb Mile gate
Grogans = level plain close to cruachon where grogans are
Grannies = on the right when you move through AMG
Middle Hill = big hill in between valleys leading to emain from crim
valley1= the valley closest to crim
valley 2 = valley closest bolg

When you see the enemy fan out so you aren't caught in mezz radius

As soon as conflict is over /stick to group leader and move out to rest up in a safe place. The place you just fought will be the first place the enemy come looking.

Don't leave dead realm mates behind, rez and then move on, chasing the fleeing masses is not an option.
