This is technically an RvR thing, but its only for the Albs so not posting in the RvR section.

Was pondering about last night. We had some fun ambling about. Not hugely successful in some ways but there was a few things of note I wanted to waffle about.

First and foremost... the scouting was excellent. The times we were able to defend ourselves were entirely down to advance info. Big cheer for the peeps out and about keeping us up to speed on what was going on. On all the recent stuff I've joined in on, the scouting has been excellent.

The second thing is a bit harder to define. When you're out and about on the frontier, situations change, usually without warning. This means you have to adapt quickly. This isn't so hard with a single group. You don't have to worry about things too much, you're just fighting on a squad level. When you've got more peeps with you, it becomes very hard to get people to react in a timely fashion to sudden changes.

Last night the reactions and responses from the people that were out and about with us were superb. It can be very hard to accept abandoning what you are doing because conditions have changed.

I know there were a lot of things about last night's foray that were far from perfect. I know myself where I made a few mistakes I was kicking myself for but still, overall, the team spirit and the responses of peeps when things needed doing were excellent.

And all whine free :)

In fact, after getting battered twice, we went back a third time. Most people give up after one go.

Oh yeh, and as usual, I died on contact with the enemy pretty much first every time I think. Roll on getting RP when you're dead :D

There was a serious problem last night though, its not all rosy. We had a major lack of clerics and sorcerors. We really should be aiming at 2 per group even though when you have a larger team the deficiencies of individual groups become less. On the third run, when I asked in the battlegroup how many sorcs there were, only one person responded. Scary.

These two things cost us big in a lot of stand up fights. It was slightly mitigated by the excellent scouting which allowed us to prepare a lot of the time but still, would be nice to see more active sorcs and clerics joining us for running around.

Still, RvR should be for all, and we had a wild variety of levels along with us. Which to be honest is as it should be - the more seasoned helping the up and coming ones along rather than making RvR for a select few hardcore peeps.
I think half my group was below 50. (Don't get me wrong, I like small scale or FG squad sized RvR, but I don't worship it).

Having said that, the 3-way fight at the bottom of the hill from Nottmoor was good fun. We were completely sandwiched between Mids and Hibs but because of the recon info, we were warned and able to withdraw from Nott and so able to at least fight, rather than being merely squashed :)

On the third run, it seemed like Mids were sulking by then... or maybe just not used to Albs sticking at something so doggedly - we got two more keeps before there was much in the way of response.

All good practice for New Frontiers. I believe the ability to coordinate scouting info with a large force that responds quickly to changes is key. If we can do it with better balanced units, then some quite complex things will be very achievable.

Looking forward to more RvR with some most excellent company :)

No arguing, second run was slow. My group was well capable of MACH5ing all the way but still, wasn't going to just leave peeps to fend for themselves

Hard call and as it turned out a bad call to not leave peeps behind but its always something I'm really reluctant to do. I hold my hands up to that one.

Was a great fight at the end near Hild in the trees it seemed to last for ages. Ice pets were a lot of fun there.

Win or lose last night was brilliant fun!

It was a fun night and the fight in the trees was great! Toss a few nukes, firby charging at you, run to titan and watch it either run away or go splat, duck behind a tree, move for position, toss a few more nukes, troll coming at you, head for titan etc...
Just a shame the mids didn't hit us when we had the trebs up.
