It may be wrong but as far as I know you can't run 2 SI clients from the same pc, but you can run 1 si/ 1 classic or 2 classic.

you can, i run 2 SI at the same time ( checking for patch at thesame time), then login 1st account first, then jump back top windows, login your 2nd account

I just got this working myself after some messing around.

I would suggest having 2 copies of it so that you can change graphics etc on the less active window to get performance boost.

You have to run the file checker on both accounts first before going any further or you get 'there is already a copy running...'

You need 512Mb of RAM.

If you are using a Nvidia card with the latest drivers and have problems roll back one version, (4019) cause that fixed everything for me and both windows run just fine.

Almost the same problem

When i load up my 2 SI i get a LD not long after...
Got the 512 Mb RAM...
Could it be my conection? it is not that good...
And could it be helped by killing the graficks on the alt char.? and can it be done?

wow... lotta questions... hope ya can help me...

No you dont.. I run up to 3 SI accounts on the same pc at the same time, and i've never had to run the file checker..

Running 2 SI clients here, no problems at all, just load the SI exe file as normal and login, then ALT-TAB abck to windows and repeat.

no changes,
no copies of files
no file checks

easy

I run 2 SI on one PC - only trick to it is to make sure you launch both copies to the point where it shows your CD key - if you go beyond this point and then launch the 2nd you will get the 'daoc is already running' message.

I personally run it from two seperate copies of the mythic directory - this allows you to set different options such as key maps for the two accounts - otherwise whatever account you changed last will be the keymap you use for both next time you log in - this stuff is stored in the directory and read by the server every time you log in.

Sorry to be such a dipstick but could someone just clarify a couple of things on this for me please?

I have a single directory HDD ie C/ only. When I get my second set of cd's do I install them as if the original installation doesn't exist and simply create a new game directory (MythicB?) on the C drive?

This will give me another desktop icon and will allow separate options, etc on that installation?

More fundamentally, would I be better off installing the second copy onto my laptop and sharing the desktop BB connection via a LAN crossover cable (and no I can't aford wireless)?

Thanks.

If you have a laptop, and your using it as a bot. Then run it off that, it will allow you alot faster access to the bott should something nasty occur.

For second installing, yes just install to a new dir name.

My system has AMD 2.8 xp processor, 1.5 gig of ram and ti4600 card and the only problem i have running off the same executable. Is that the backgrounded char loses follow/stick after a while, the game as a whole needs some kind of real-time responce for mapping, it would seem.

Another suggestion, for people having any problems is (please only do it you know what you are doing). Try reducing the processor priority of the bot account in the task-manager. Push one copy to high and one to low. Dont use real-time though.

Btw, Outlook dont like DaOC it would seem :)
