Run bar like the address bar in winxp?

Yeah, i'm quite fond of using the Address bar in windows xp. Fast going to a special link, navigating file system etc...

BUT! I also really miss the functionality of being able to run commands from it. I have to go ALL THE WAY down in start and press Run.. to run a command. Pretty annoying tbh ^_^

Well, is there a way to get Run.. down as a bar?

Not that i know of, however if you have a keybaord that lets you set the keys to run apps set one to open the command window.

Well, is there a way to get Run.. down as a bar?

right-click the windows taskbar (lower edge of screen) and make sure "lock the taskbar" is turned off.
Now drag up the taskbar to compose two rows.
right-click it again, and go to "Toolbars" >> "Address"
you've just added an address bar to your taskbar.
Go ahead and type "notepad" in it. It'll open notepad for you
Type an url, and it'll open your default webbrowser and go to the specific url.


My taskbar looks like this:

hum mine does... I'm using vista though. You can also drag and drop "run..." onto your quick launch

Win 2003 Server is the way to go =)

Ah well thought of installing vista but from what i heard it whines a whole lot more than winxp already does. Win xp is already pissing me off good with its 'hi mate, you got unused icons on your desktop!' and 'you only got 500 meg left on your system drive!!!'

That's wrong, I said I have no illegal OS running on my systems and that's exactly what it's like. The license I have is perfectly all right and it states "Windows 2003 Server x64". I didn't pay any money for it cause some universities have programs running, that get you software for free. I used to study computer stuff, so I had access to it. Licenses don't wear out if you quit your studies =) If I had continued, I could have a "Vista Server x64" for free now =)

But besides, I bought my first Windows XP Pro in a store, so I have no problems with paying people for their work. Well I don't particularly like Windows or Microsoft overall, but if I use their programs, I pay them for doing so, that's an easy deal.

It's not a cut-down version or anything like that. The point is, that not many students know about it The guy sitting there has a huge ring binder with key-sheets. You fill out name and students number and you get one half of the sheet, the other half stays there so they know who has the stuff. It's rather simple and I found it to be a very handy thing =)

Btw, the EULA is printed on a Microsoft page that no longer exists I don't think they care so much after all ^^
