the worst is that alot of the places you pick up your parcels from these companies are also only open during office hours so you have to take time off or leave work early/start late whatever to get the packages

luckily my work has a mail room where we can get our stuff delivered to so we just get an email when packages have arrived for us :)

likewise. glorious isnt it?

I bet your office doesn't have a room where your boss gives you a handjob when you're bored does it.

Hah!

He just goes round your mum's house nath...

My boss is a bald old guy, so I'll rather stay bored....

I see the Posties Suicide - I mean strike - starts on the 22nd Oct for an initial 2 days - they sure are doing their best to get the thing re-nationalised.

I say just open up the monopoly - I'd happily pay twice as much for letters if the service was a bit better and my mail wasnt routinely opened or stolen.

I thought the Royal Mail was already a publicly owned body?

Its not strictly nationalised - its a Public Limited Company with the Government holding all the shares. The difference this makes is subtle but basically its now run for the benefit of its shareholders rather than for the country itself - this leads to a more private company feel and hopefully effeciency improvements.

dunno if this link already posted but..A postman's lament: 'All this belligerence, bullying and cajoling... we are being provoked' - Commentators, Opinion - The Independent

if thats all true then surely they need to sort themselves out no? (hell even if its partially true it needs to be sorted)

Sounds like a load of cobblers - anyone who believes that postal volumes have gone up is fooling themselves tbh - most of my bills and correspondance are over the net these days and I dont think thats exceptional?

I have a mate who is a postie, great job he says. Early starts yes, but also early finishes. Decent wage, especially with overtime. And he is not in the union, so he gets even more to work when the rest are striking. From what he says, people take the piss and under perform, absence is high, and change is desperately needed.

Which is exactly the reason why these strikes are counter productive, the likes of Amazon will just use someone else for deliveries. Royal Mail staff will lose their jobs.

The whole thing is idiocy.

Think you'll find the figures are overall not just at certain peak times or in certain areas.

Its about time other people around the country have to suffer like we do in London, strikes have been going on for months around London, and lets not forget the tube strikes 3 times a year. Its a sham

I do love how its the postal unions who are first to complain that Royal Mail are getting in temps, i also love how they demand overtime pay to cover the work they caused by striking in the first place

Fire the lot of them and get people in who actually want to do some work...there are 100's of thousands unemployed. Give them the jobs instead.

Lazy buggers

i dont know if youre complaining or just stating some experiences.
at the end of the day though, thats your job and what you get paid for. if these people dont want to do the job, then they should just quit. there is plenty of people in far more shitty jobs, such as packing boxes none stop for 12 hours a day and 5.75 an hour. you dont see them causing total havoc all the time.

I love the fact that "poor" folk are willing to say "fuck the poor" whilst at the same time saying "don't tax the rich cause they'll all leave".

I have to break it to everyone reading this. You'll never be rich. So grab what you can - and if that means a strike then do it. If you lose your shitty job over it, don't worry. There'll be another shitty job.

But lets not forget. The job is shitty.

Chances of us ever being rich are even less now than they were in the 50's...

....fuck. I really should just go to bed. I don't know what's making my urine simmer this evening :(

Still getting my post here. Good local chaps!

Shame the strike doesn't affect the retarded e-mails I've been sent over the last day or so.

Hows it going to end then? Will the posties slink back to work with tails held lo?

Will managment cave in and give em massive pay rises and agree to being handcuffed by the union?

Or will Mandy finally directly intervene - probably to revive his recently dropped plan to part privitise the service?

I would like TNT mail services to be allowed to operate unhindered in direct competition to Royal mail so we can have proper competition in this controlled market
