Router/Lag probs

My gf is having some problems atm.

She has 2 comps and 1 router obviously now here is the problem.

When she is playing games such as WoW everything is fine until the downstairs PC is switched on by a family member then all of a sudden the net/game lags like crazy for a good 5mins or so until the downstairs computer has booted up etc.

I have never heard of this before so not a clue as to what it could be.

Any tech nuts here who could shed some light on maybe what is happening?

My first thought would be that the machine downstairs has some sort of malware, or possibly a virus that is getting a lot of data from the internet. Just a guess.

Ty will get her to run a virus check.

also consider running a diagnostic on the network card? Could be the card is spamming the tits out of the router via malformed packets.
