Can anyone give me any pointers on how to go about this please? Links would be great as well.

dude, I used unrEVOked3 to root mine. on doze you have to install a speshul USB driver for it. personally, I failed to get it to work in doze, but others here have managed it. there are scads of unrevoked3 guides on the interpipes, and even youtube vids.

you have to be root, and it may need some extra libraries installed.

Yay!

Done it, big thanks to Teedandeh and Tildacheese, the problem (I think) was that on the Desire I needed to select Charge Only and Don't Ask Again when I connected it to the PC.

Now, more questions -

1. Which rom should I put on?
2. When I put another rom on will it wipe my contacts, messages etc?
3. Can I now bloody well delete the stuff off my phone that I couldn't before (footprints, stocks etc?)

Ta again luvs.

Put Leedroid on but not sure if it is any better than the stock.

Any pointers on the best rom please luvs, personal experience from you lot is what I would trust more than anything else.

I have had Cyanogen on for most of today and it feels like it is lacking something. I installed Gapps on it after reading about the legal reasons that there wasn't any Google stuff on it but it still feels lacking. Hate how messages are displayed just in the notification area and I hate how you compose a text (having to type recipitents name in rather than just searching). Maybe I can change these settings but I can't for the life of me find where. It is bloody fast though.

Actually this says alot and something which I also prefer. I would much rather listen to and take advice from a bunch of people whom I have known for years and years. At least I know they won't give me bullshit but honest answers, also, if I ask a stupid question I don't mind :)

Well, since we're being honest, all your questions are stupid T.

I'll let you two chaps to figure out which one of you I'm talking to ;)
