Make me!

So how many people here will join in the riots when England get beaten out of the competition? I, for one, look forward to taking pot shots at the fuzz with my air rifle!

I would prefer it if we got to play with England (without Rooney ofc). Well, let's see how Greece is gonna do against France. Well, we did ok so far but don't expect much (didn't expect to get here either way) :D

Rooney well typed IDDQD in the first half extra time.

The the fact I know what that means scares me...

If we can just beat Figo and his crew we might end up going all the way.

he is 18 and nearly as good as henry, how old is henry, what 25 or so? roony has the potential to be one of the best strikers of all time, just hope it doesnt all go to his head, though i havent seen any evidence that it is.

I totally agree. The man is like Maradona, Ronaldo and Zidane rolled into one atm, which can't be bad. :D

If it hasn't gone to his head already, and there is no evidence of it doing so yet, then I don't think it will. If he can handle all the hype and support that he is getting at 18 then he should be ok.. might be a different story once he gets home though. We will see. We can keep shouting his name for now at least. :)

Heard all this about Owen if he keeps his head he will be the greatest but then he burnt out or whatever and now hes just good not excellent.

I like rooney just for his take no shit attitude i think he will go far but cant judge on one tournament.

It was a good match and he has prospect but comparing him to Maradona is a bit premature at least :p

Also, most we have seen of Rooney is great shooting skills and lots of running, but hardly any passing, organising or dribbling like Zidane. Hardly comparable to him, they play in a different position and Zidane is atm top world player and has a carrer to back it up unlike Rooney who only has 2 good games and a good year with Everton.

Rooney also was good against Swiss and Croatia but i still want to see him against a better organised defence that doesn't leave him that much space to play. He relies a lot on Owen dragging the defenders at the front leaving him to exploit the open space he has to score. That worked well against Croatia but dunno how well it's going to work against Portugal who have a more tight defence (they have only conceded 2 goals, one from penalty and both at the time that their central defender was missing).

All in all i think England owes a lot to Ericsson that has helped them evolve as a team. They also proved they can play good football :) Throw Beckham out of the team though, he is not running, marking, tackling, dribbling, he just does a good pass from time to time, that's hardly enough. He is totally luxury player for a team. Also, Gerrard and Lampard have to help with defence a lot more too, their position demands it, England will have trouble against Portugal if they don't. They leave too much open space in the centre for the opposite team to advance and organise its game, Croatia didn't have really good players there but Figo and his crew are a totally different story. And finally they need to jump more, they concede too many goals from set pieces.

As for Rooney he is a good prospect but so was Owen and he is hardly world class player now. Just a good one. Time will tell :p

lol im sorry, but Gunner is right. Rooney isnt Henry...YET and at the moment Rooney isnt fit to lace Henry's boots. I am an everton fan and have been fully aware of rooneys talents for 5 years + but hes still not the finished article. He played some dreadful games for everton this season, so you cannot judge him solely on the fantastic euro 2004 he is having. Yes, he scored two wonderful goals last night but the keeper was dogshit. The first should of been no problem for the keeper and I feel for the second, the keeper should of stayed on his feet a little longer. I also feel in order to become the "finished article" he needs to leave Everton FC which would suit both parties. Wayne would go to a better to club and we would receive £20 million plus to invest in 2-3 new players. Remember, Gazza was as good, if not better at 18, in fact, rooney reminds me of an 18 year old gazza, just wanted to play football and had no respect for anyone, yet we all know what happened to him.
