Well, this is Barrysworld.

I think there's something in the water supply that makes normally-sensible people especially susceptible to the lures of a good old flamefest. ;)

Put it away Luy :) There ARE some genuinely nice people out there....we just happen to have found the bored board trolls here :)

Kobolds, please. Trolls are too clumsy.

Quote from Luy:

"I'll be on at around 9 pm gmt and onwards for at least 3 hours. Those who are interested then could pop online and we'll have an ooc meeting regarding it."

Which is what we did...until 5 am...hardly jumping into it, 8 hours of discussion :)

8 hours of discussion limited to your little clique. I'm sure it was very constructive, with wide ranges of well-informed opinions.
The discussion started here, an excellent medium for reaching people who could be hindered from attending your exclusive little ill-announced club. Couldn't it have stayed here for a little while longer so that everyone could get their say? Instead, we now have a guild where, by your own admission, nothing is actually organised. You're even asking around for someone to be head GM. Very smooth.

You said "Ummm... possibly because it was late at night?"

Sorry didn't realise you had to be in bed at 9

I don't, but some of us have lives. And, you know, jobs? That thing that provides one with money? Not the unemployment office? Which means we can't stay up until 5 o'clock in the morning.

Okay, that last jab was pretty low too, I'll give you that. But I didn't start with the sabre-rattling.

hehe

First thing I actually agree with wholeheartedly. =)

I guess it's a very weird and sociopathic start but hey. At least I'm grinning for the first time in a while.

And that's not from the latest flame posts.

I have to agree with Nattrun on this, only offering some corrections to something you guys just rushed into, wouldnt have been so hard to put up a time and a place on bw for ppl to meet in game so the ones interested could join you would it ?

Granted, Nattruns comment was in a way putting you guys down ... depends on how you look at it ... but you guys wont ever make any friends by being overly defensive and start throwing real insults back ...

I still think a roleplaying guild is a good idea but when u turn a simple post like this into a flamewar it is not very tempting to join.

This game and the people playing it makes roleplaying hard, if not impossible ...

As much fun as this isn't this will be my last post. I've chosen to not reply to the latest line of disagreements to allow personal thought among people instead.

There will be a new thread up this weekend and you're still all welcome to contact me ingame or on our forums for constructive comments(No I regard nitpicking and patronizing over minor details in flaky spelling that can't be translated into english to start with as not constructive) the guild is in no way complete, Graav, it wont be run by myself eventually and roleplaying fun will be the main focus, not message board flaming.

Later.

Luygin.

I see you saying this, and then...

Not very consistent, Strap, and not very convincing.

You just can't resist flinging one last barrage of passive-aggressive little insults, can you? Nitpicking and patronising indeed; the spelling wasn't 'flaky', it was factually correct on my part, and all I wanted was to offer just that. Facts. And you're wrong again in saying it can't be translated into English; didn't you read my comment at all? The word we're all getting so fired up about means 'Dragon'. Literally. No difficulties in translating. No cultural-reference crossed wires. Dragon.

So thanks very much, but I'll steer clear of 'roleplaying fun', Strap style. As much as you profess to not want to be GM, it's pretty clear to me that you intend to lurk in the galleries and offer 'constructive' orders on how YOUR guild is to be run and we must all roleplay without regard to the culture the realm is modelled after or else.

Yeah, I'm getting incoherent, but I'm also getting tired of you not getting my point, regardless of how many ways I try to phrase it.

Oops watch that arrogance/ignorance Nattrun, it's showing again :) You seem a diligent worker....give me a call if you ever find yourself unemployed....I might just manage to find you a nice little niche in the typist pool :)...but only the boss can stay up till 5 am cos the workers have to be at their desks on time ya hear? <smiles>

Dragon? ..I like that <ponders>...the real meaning of the word got lost somewhere in all your arrogant blurb I guess :)

Well one thing, at least it IS a word :)

Thanks

Also, while we're calling each other names:

Blurb, n.: a short publicity notice (as on a book jacket).

I'll admit to arrogance if you admit to illiteracy.

Guess as you're not English you don't know the finer nuances of the language :)

The word blurb is often used in the way I used it to mean - excess words, which funnily enough is where the definition you quote from the dictionary originated, there I added to your language fetish.

Dictionaries are really only useful in some circumstances, as I'm sure, with your great linguistic knowledge, you are aware :)

"... The word you're looking for is 'Drakar', or 'Dreki' for the singular. And it doesn't mean 'monster', it's specifically 'dragon'"

So...run that past me again ....where does it say that Drakhar means dragon? I still seem to be having a thick moment :)

You know, you might have gathered I'm not English from the fact that I pointed out that it's my people's native language that you're butchering.

Indeed you do. It was in the original post that started the argument. Or did you not actually read that? Here, I'll even quote it for you:

The guild is called Drakhar, the norse name for the longships vikings employed so succesfully in their amphibous warfare.

The Norse name for the longships was drakar for the plural. Singular, dreki. Which means dragon.

There. Clear enough for you?

The Keepers of Bifrost kind of split up a few months back. I use to be the gm but left due to my own reasons.

hmm.....guess the "which" is supposed to be Drakhar?...sorry but you're still not making yourself clear.

oh and bastardising your language?....we have to put up with that all the time in DAoC from you foreigners....thx...m8...plz....ne1....4u.....u....etc.etc. so I guess the one letter we had to add due to Mythic not allowing our name, is not so bad for you :)

Anyway <yawns>....flaming with you is getting terribly boring...you obviously have very little in depth knowledge of the English language and are unable to see past your self-perceived excellence at the language...so byeee for now, and take care Ms Perfection :)

You, Melodii, are a troll of the worst sort, and thus not worth another minute of my time. I'm starting to feel sympathetic to Strap, who has to put up with your inept 'defense' of him.

Now go away and bother someone else.
