It's fallen from something.

There's no damage to the front of the car, so he hasnt hit it, nor has he hit anything else.

If it was a rescue, the roof would have been cut totally off and the glass removed. So that rules that out.

If you look in the background there is a roadbridge. Perhaps the deer jumped from this onto the car, perhaps it was thrown.
