The thing is, going vigilante on his ass (even if he is a bastard on the field sometimes) is a sad end to a career like Zidane's so i just can't see why you all find it so fantastic, i don't give a shit what happens to Materazzi. as much as you may call him childish, some of what he says is correct.

if you really are in a team you shouldnt feel let down because 1 person 'fucked up'. not much of a team if you do. if you feel like that your obviously in it for only one person - your self.

The problem is that if the ref and the AR didn't see zidanes "attack", but only pulled the red after the AR had seen the replay on the jumbotron that's bringing into the game an element that has been strictly excluded from the entire tournament. There have been literally hundreds of mistakes by refs in this tournament, and at minimum at least 20+ disastrous mistakes of the non-call and blown call variety. Hell in this game alone there was a wrongly awarded PK, and a PK that should have been awarded but was not.So If you are going to put the jumbotron replay into play to make the correct call on a vile red card worthy headbutt from Zidane you also HAVE TO PUT IT IN PLAY IN THE REST OF THE TOURNAMENT.

That's why it's important to ascertain why it took nearly a full two minutes to get Zidane a Red Card for that foul. Was it because the ref and AR were nowhere near eachother and the AR required a lot of time to get the word out to him or is it because the ref didnt see it, the AR didnt see it, and finally when the AR saw it, he told the ref based on replay rather than actually seeing it.

This is the problem, if the AR actually saw it, no issue. Fair play. If he didn't, this is colossal b.s. of epic proportions. Yes Zidane should have been bounced for his idiocy, but if you rely on the jumbotron for that as the AR Might have (it's unclear for now), then it simply doesn't matter, period. Because you'd have to replay the entire tournament if you're going to pick and choose when you use sneak peaks of replay to assist you in your decision making .

Part of being a team is forgiving a teammate for his or her mistakes and supporting him/her after that. But being a teamplayer is also about not making mistakes that could be avoided, such as headbutting an opponent , intentionally doing something unnecessary that weakens your team IS letting it down.
