Dance is wank .. rock all the way well if that includes hip hop and such :p

Hip hop has more in common with dance as its roots can be traced right back to Kraftwerk and the electro scene is a precursor to modern dance.

No I like your highly informed opinion , if you think it sucks that's fine everyone entiteled to whatever opinion they want..even you :O. For example i think R&B is the spawn of satan :D and being subjected to it everyday dirves me mad!!. I love to come home and pump some Trance into my ears after they have been raped by the fasionable "Urban" scene.

Not at all. The whole individual thing is shite for the teenyboppers listening to limp bizkit and linkin park calling themseves 'metal' because they listen to a pop song with distortion and songs about self-hurt.

The two genres, rock and dance are far FAR too broad to have as those titles but then again, I don't think this was meant as a serious thread. But on one hand you would have all the bands which couldn't be classed as dance. So you'd end up haveing stereophonics, elvis presley, Slipknot, led zepplin and metallica all in the same catagory when they're blatently not even close to being the same type of music.

But anyways, on a very general term, rock is better on many levels to me. Dance music is based upon a beat and yes that is pretty much it. Most of the little tiddly bits which make up the entire song in dance music repeated with throughout changing 1 or 2 notes each time along the same scale, are rip-offs from 4 bar classical bridges which are the most memorable bits of the song. The number of times I've seen a boy-racer with their metro fitted with racing spoiler, blue underlights and a holey bucket for an exhaust and have heard rip-offs of classical pieces in a REALLY insulting way makes me sick.

Dance tracks are extremely easy to write. Literally anyone can do it with less then half a brain and despite it being just a piss take comedy film, kevin and perry go large pretty much summed it up ;)

Rock music in itself, I'd say that I only probably like half of it, generally being the older stuff (No I'm not an old bastard, I'm 20 :p) because it has style and hasnt been commercialised for the teeny bopper market, although sadly it seems even some old bands have succumb to that

Ever tried to learn to play a guitar? A bass? Any orchestral instrument? These are instruments which can take a decade to perfect and I feel dance music and generic trpie which has filled the market of today is poison. Then you really do have to have a talent to write the good stuff. Again, I'm only refering to certain parts of the market.

Dance music is based on a beat. Rock music is a play around your emotions. Theres a song for each emotion whether it be anger, joy, frustration, revenge, an aphrodisiac or whatever it's more then just black and white.

These are ofc my opinions and anyone can feel free to explain why they think dance is more 'colorful' to them then rock music :)

And nerf my smily limit...just cut out half of it cause cba at this time of night to go through it all

R&b, most dance/trance and a few oldtimers from softer rock.

Personally think deathmetal is way more fucked up then trance, imo.

Did notice playing this game 95% thinks otherwise :p

Heh, a commen misconception, you "most" probably have not heard proper Trance again like "we" hear Limp Bizkit and stuff which does not represent the more underground scene I would say (As you said).

Trance is pure emotion, why is it not? because it does not have words? Trance affects my emotions more than any other music I know. Also your point about its easy to write is stupid, sure anyone can release some commerical trash just like people can with rock, and untill you have made & Released a popular tune that goes down well on any DJ's set than you can not talk. A good trance song is hard to write and I know this from personal experiance of producing, there are many factors defining a good Trance song.

I challenge you to listen to some real Trance, not the Stuff you hear on Radio 1 or Capital FM. Also FYI I play bass guitar and used to play in a band (Was shit but thats not the point) I have a wide tatse in music However Trance (Thats right the thing without emotion) is the only thing that connects with me on a sub level. If you don't get it you won't feel it and thats not somthing you can force, The emotion part of your argument was so wrong is untrue, you don't see it untill you open your mind, then your flooded with emotions up and downs as the main riffs build...the tention as the track rises to that pivital point..the brakedown as you let loose, the DJ that just won't let you come down untill your about ready to burst and he drops it .. OMG...

I have been on both sides Metal rock grunge I been there, and I decided Trance was for me. If its not for you fine, but don't state "Facts" about somthing you obviously know so little about past "Ian Van Dahl".

My 2 cents and yes loads of SP? but I don't care :p
