Stu's circle seems to be those guys who spend all day on IRC... Why? What's so fascinating about it?

One of my best m8s does the same and I've told him, he'll turn into a complete twat if he keeps picking up some of the stupid attitudes people like Stu have, altho he did agree stu is a bit of a knob, I'd have to check me ICQ history to confirm :)

Stu is god, we all bow down to him... blah-de-blah lets all go home and drink some beer and shag some schoolgirls.

A simple question from a simple mind now, but why do people who use the net a lot need to have 2 attitudes/personalities? Why can't people be themselves online or off? Then maybe we'd never have these arguments and the need to rip the piss outta other guys.

Bit silly IMO. I only take the piss outta people like stu, bodhi, exor etc cuz they act like complete plonkers on these forums thinking they're oh-so-big and knowledgeable, cept they have no respect from anyone cuz down to earth people like myself (heh) just look @ their responses, think 'hmm, he's a tit' and the post something to piss 'em off :) I never get pissed off from some of the jibes stu and crew chuck @ me, but I find it quite nice that they need to show me some attention :D

I just think they're tools, quite funny ones @ that... but it sometimes gets a bit long winded when they have to reply to EVERY bad comment about them... afterall, they'd get no bad comments if they didn't have bad attitudes.

Right, gonna go watch telly... seeyaz :)

'perpetuating the whole "anti Stu" bandwagon'

I didn't actually mean you Dave, I was referring to some others - although by your same argument it does seem a bit strange that of the 3 times you've ever posted on here, once has been to openly slag off someone else. If anything its a sign of how much (or in this case how little)
it takes to make you vent your spleen at him at every oppurtunity (I expect it from Nick/Kryten, who'll do/say anything to/about anyone if it furthers his own "career" (sic)), ie. if this is one of the 3 subjects you have felt motivated to comment on since having been registered 9 months ago, what does that say about your post?...

I do wind Stu up, and yes he does really fucking irritate me at times, but at the end of the day it's not real life is it?

Stu often irritates me online, often to the point where I seriously consider "doin' a Rude" :) - but then I remember the times hes gone out of his way to do something that has benefited me in some way (buying lunch for example, when I was skint - which was pretty often as a student).

Ultimately - and I'm sure most of this wont even be taken on board by a lot or irrational people - but "you get what you pay for" with Stu. He treats people according to how they treat him, how they present themselves (ie. whether they act and sound like unintelligent retards). He is perfectly amicable to people that are capable of conversing with him in a reasonable, intelligent manner - and yet at the same time, more vocally than most, he makes it perfectly clear that he has no time for anyone who isn't "on the same wavelength".

At the end of the day, if you disagreed with someone in a pub - you wouldn't continue to harass them whereever they went, in the futile attempt to "make them see the error of their ways" - you'd steer well clear, as any normal individual would do. If you go looking for a fight with someone, chances are you'll get one. And you can't really complain when you get one either.

I do wind Stu up, and yes he does really fucking irritate me at times, but at the end of the day it's not real life is it? I'd guarrentee that if Stu and myself were ever to meet, which will no doubt happen sometime, we'd be civil to each other and all the shit from 'this place' wouldn't even be mentioned.

If that tells us anything, it's that peoples' behaviour in real life is often just as fake as it is online. Think about the amount of times you've been 'civil' to someone you actually despise. How different is that to being uncivil to someone you don't actually mind, on this very message board?

Indeed. I have, on the other hand - and he's not a lot different offline than he is online (if at all). As I said previously, he doesn't suffer fools gladly which is perhaps why I have a vastly different opinion of him than most people.

Yes maybe

But I think you are a single candle in a very dark room in that respect.

Just so you know I don't spend all day on IRC, far from it actually. Most days are spent at uni and most evenings with my girlfriend. To cap it off I spend all weekend bar Sunday night at work as well. The time that I do spend online though I do spend using IRC and such forth. So I don't really see how this quantifys as spending all day on IRC. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just thought, why the fuck am I bothering to post this?

Interesting points mostly

The one thing I would like to say is the highly ironic timing of everything.

See, 3 weeks ago (for no real reason at all), I decided to 'turn over a new leaf'. I removed all the bans and shitlists from #quake2.uk, and I decided that I wouldn't abuse any more people for no reason at all. If they openly provoked me, that would be another story, but I decided that I no longer saw the point in having a go at people for the sake of it. I made it public knowledge.

All this was basically just a little social experiment, to see how people would react. Mostly I got mild incredulity through to total amazement. I got a particularly funny response from Iz, who decided as a "show of solidarity" he'd give up pr0n (and promptly fell off the wagon about 3 days later :) ). The majority of people said it would last about 2 days, but I actually kept it up and (if I'm not mistaken) didn't have a go at anyone.

The only reason I'm bringing this up was in light of comments such as "As long as he continually takes the piss out of anyone outside his 'circle' it won't though. He brings it on himself." from Vectrex. See, if you read through the threads in order (as I'm often a fan of saying, people often disregard small matters such as time,) you'll see that this latest slagging session wasn't actually started by me. As they usually aren't. Kryten's excuse for basically being abusive was that I disagreed with his opinion, or that of "Barrysworld Inc". Actually no I didn't even do that, I merely stated my own opinion before he'd even said anything. I guess retroactivity is an alien concept. TUG's justification to have a go was... me saying something to Daz.

Which just goes to show really. People will see what they want to see. It's interesting how Kryten accuses me of living in "my own little fantasy world", when he seems to have kicked off on some ranting spree for no reason whatsoever. Incidentally, to preempt those of you who will reply with something clever like "aww poor Stu doesn't like it when it happens to him", it really does not bother me (if it did I'd probably go 'rabid psycho' a la Kryten), I just thought I'd bring it up. But no doubt you'll ignore that too.

Oh, the one other thing, something Daz said in counter to what Vectrex was saying. You know what 3 posts says to me? It says that you never actually post here, but the second ever time you do it's to be openly hostile, for even less of a reason (as you were blatantly brought to the thread to lend some sort of "moral support". Or was the 10 minute or so posting gap a complete coincidence?) Ergo, you are deeply obsessed with me. If that is the case, I think it's highly ironic that I'm the one being told to "get a life".

And there's the rub. Whilst you both openly admit to hating me from your very core, conversely your existence is irrelevant to me. You could live or die, and I really wouldn't care. I don't mean that in a nasty "I hope you die" manner, but in an honest expression of the complete neutrality of my feeling.

So Dave, Nick, etc, continue to hate me for all it's worth, it really doesn't bother me. If anything it gives me a warm feeling that someone thinks so much of me, even if it is negatively.

I await the replies of "you think you can talk your way out of everything but you're a fucking tosser hehehaha!!!", etc, with weary but inevitable indifference.
