but bernard manning was undeniably racist. i don't give a flying fuck how much money he gave to charity, his origins, how many black friends he had, whatever. the bloke was a racist **** and as far as i'm concerned that's one less ignorant twat taking up valuable oxygen.

yes, people can be overzealous in calling someone or something racist. however, it doesn't change the fact that used in particular contexts - are you familiar with this term? - words such as paki, ****** or even honkey can be extremely offensive.

i call my mates *****. i wouldn't call someone i didn't know a ****. why should it be any different for words that have racial undertones and connontations just because it's "all a bit too much like political correctness gone mad" (courtesy of richard littlejohn)

You do know your jumping up and down over anything bordering on racism does just us much damage than actual racism?

getting fed up being classed as racist for finding some "racist" jokes funny or for not having the enough coloured friends to fit the national average (or whatever pointless stat the guardian comes out with this week)

give it a rest for fucks sake

edit: yes racism exists (and should be stopped) but no it is not everywhere, despite what some people would like you to think. Its like the inbreeds who whined about Alf Garnet, Oh knows he said someone was a sambo! burn him!

wankers

Fucking true! Im sick of being branded a racist because I agree with SOME of the BNP's goals, like getting rid of the illegal immegrants who constantly fail on appeals yet can live here scot free. I do not agree with kicking out people who a) have been here for years and have put money into the system, b) are benefitting the health, doctors, lawyers, nurses etc.

I laugh at racists hokes, I laugh at Jewish jokes. I also laugh at the PC bollocks in this country, such as the Big Brother thing where she got booted out for calling someone a "******", due to the fact she heard it on rap records etc.

A joke is the ultimate freedom of speech, if you cannot take it just cease exhisting. Sticks and stones may break my bones etc and all that bollocks, though nowadays its

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but the PC state CAN hurt me.

As for Mr Manning, my friend had the oppourtunity to see him with his black(you heard it), black friend. Yes this black friend got the shit ripped out of him but so did everyone else in that room

Actually i think he probably did quite a lot of good by making real racists look stupid. Didn't find him particularly funny though

i imagine the reason you're branded racist is because the bnp are, for all intents and purposes, made up by racists, fascists and other criminals.

nick griffin, your glorious leader, your fuhrer if you like, has a conviction for inciting racial hatred! he is also a holocaust denier.

I laugh at racists hokes, I laugh at Jewish jokes. I also laugh at the PC bollocks in this country, such as the Big Brother thing where she got booted out for calling someone a "******", due to the fact she heard it on rap records etc.

blimey, i laugh at racist jokes as well! that doesn't make me a racist. nor does making racist jokes. basing an entire career out of mocking ethnic minorities, however, does make you a racist.

nothing politically correct about what happened on big brother either, it's called common fucking sense.

A joke is the ultimate freedom of speech, if you cannot take it just cease exhisting. Sticks and stones may break my bones etc and all that bollocks, though nowadays its

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but the PC state CAN hurt me.

again, someone else who seems adept at missing the point! nice to see the tired old bnp rhetoric is the same as ever though.

As for Mr Manning, my friend had the oppourtunity to see him with his black(you heard it), black friend. Yes this black friend got the shit ripped out of him but so did everyone else in that room

well that's conclusive evidence isn't it? bernard manning isn't a racist cos some bloke on the internet has some anecdotal evidence! wahey! his family will be pleased.

above all else though, racist or not, bernard manning was about as funny as being kicked in the bollocks by trem.

No, you just fail to see that people do not have the same rosy view of life that you do.

Up North, its normal for Paki to be used. No matter what colour, paki is used.

I guess its the North/South divide, up North you can more or less joke about anything but down South you just get sued for doing anything

that makes it okay then, does it?

no, no, no, no! engage your brain, prise it open with a crowbar, think for yourself and come back when you're capable of thinking properly.

i'm perfectly happy to accept people's views but not when they're so full of empty rhetoric, pointless nonsense and complete ignorance such as yours.

I have a fully engaged brain to be honest, im just not a dogooder who wants to free the rapists, arm the terrorists and make the media all fluffy and happy

i'm sorry, i didn't think you would be capable of mastering the art of irony. i must have grossly underestimated you.

no...wait, i didn't. you're still too clueless to form your own opinion.

so then, do you really believe calling someone a paki is okay because you're from oop norf?

No, because where I come from pakistanis call themselves pakis.

Its the same with the word niggas, I call my friends that because they use it themselves

Next you will tell me that calling people "gay" is wrong and im going to burn in hell, except they are not really gay

Guys - calm it down please... I know you are just expressing opinions, and it is interesting, but it's totally off topic in a thread to commemorate someone's passing, whoever they were or views and outlooks they had.

RIP.

Never found him very funny tbh. I went to the Embassy Club years ago when I was a student, and in his defence he was an equal opportunities piss-taker, he gave us a hard time for being students (but Steve Coogan did that particular shtick a million times better and far more accurately), but as I recall he had a pop at pretty much everybody. Racist? Yeah, no doubt about it (saying "it's a joke" doesn't stop it being racist), but also misogynistic, an inverted snob, and of course, a City fan.

actually i've never met a paki person who has a problem with being called paki, and they indeed refer to themselves as paki. Am I a racist? No. Its the way the term is used.

I get called white alot, but that isnt racist. Its only when someone makes it racist by the way that they say it that it becomes racist. Thus sometimes you do meet the odd twat who calls you "a white piece of shit" and thats them being racist.

unlike you, throd's capable of forming an opinion, discussing it and justifying his reasons for holding said opinion.

sorry to disappoint.

munkey's right. it's the context it's used in, not the word itself.

And the sad thing is that I was actually waiting to be blasted for posting that. My faith in humanity is restored! (held in place with a hastily placed band-aid ready to fall off at the next encounter with humanity)

Well of course it's all a matter of context. I don't think anyone would argue that nigg-er is a racist word. However, whenever I see my brother I frequently greet him with "sup *****!". Clearly that's not racist. Paki is merely an abbreviation of Pakistani - but where I come from (that being The Real World™ not intarweb omgz political correctness gone maaaaaaaad world™) Paki is a predominantly racist slur.

I can't actually remember the point of this argument any more - however to get back on topic, Bernard Manning was a shit unfunny cock.
