there was no genuine love/tension between anakin/princess because..... they're both shite actors.

Can't agree with you saying the Princess is a poor actress. She was so great in Leon, and I've also seen her in a couple of other films where she was decent too.

But the dialogue in Episode 1 & 2 is so bad, and the romance so contrived that it just doesn't work. Anakin comes across like a bored, sulky kid and delivers all of his lines in the same monotone. Presumably he gets a shiny black helmet, breathing device and speech synthesiser because of all the unimpressed punters kicking his shit-acting head in.
